Posted: 1/28/04 at 6:33pmI dont know about Hunter. I wish he would, but who knows. I still think its a big shame that Hunter wasn't even nominated for Urinetwon and Spencer Kayden from didnt win the Tony. That show was awesome!

Posted: 1/28/04 at 6:36pmHunter had better be nominated. I still don't understand why he wasn't nominated for Urinetown. He is so talented and really does deserve to be nominated this year.

I predict the Best Actor in a Musical category to look like this:
Hugh Jackman, The Boy from Oz
Alfred Molina, Fiddler on the Roof
Euan Morton, Taboo
John Tartaglia, Avenue Q
Hunter Foster, Little Shop of Horrors..
Hugh will win unless there is an upset by Molina..

Posted: 1/28/04 at 7:06pmI completely agree with Benzy. For the nominations and the winner. I was almost about to post the exact same thing.

Posted: 1/28/04 at 7:09pmHunter was perfect as Seymour. He had that nerdy haircut, baseball cap and eyeglasses. He should get nominated.
#8re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: Will Hunter Foster Get a Tony Nod?
Posted: 1/28/04 at 7:42pmI remember reading in some review that Hunter looked like a jock in glasses or something as Seymour. I just didn't see it I suppose...

Posted: 1/28/04 at 7:46pmI think a Tony nomination requires more than a nerdy haircut, a baseball cap and glasses. don't you agree?

I hope John gets the nod and the other man from Q The one who plays Trekkie.
The man who plays Trekkie deserves a nod. And a Tony!
Trekkie power.![]()
The man who plays Trekkie needs help from the Queer Guys to fix his sweep over hair style. But he is very talented as is John.
I love Avenue Q!
Rick Lyon!

speaking of the guy with the bad comb over from AVE Q.. has anyone noticed on the outside of the building that they made him wear a cap in the pictures (for those that haven't seen the show.. he has the worse comb over and doesn't wear any hat in the show)... i cant decide which looks worse, his teeth or his comb over...
does anyone think this guy has ever done the voice of Elmo? I thought I could hear it in some of his Ave Q voices.. he is so damn talented.

Posted: 1/29/04 at 1:00amI again want to remind people that to be eligible for best actor at the tonys you need to be given star billing. No one in Taboo or Ave Q is given star billing and therefore should not be eligible for best actor or actress. They are however eligible for best supporting (or featured whatever they call it) actor/actress

Posted: 1/29/04 at 1:36amBut didn't the committee decide that Hunter and Kerry would be put in the leading category? I can't remember exactly but it seems like they were.

The Tony committee met and decided that Hunter and Kerry would be considered for Tony's in the leading actor/actress category as well as John T. Therefore Rick Lyon will be considered featured (supporting) actor. They also ruled that Euon (sp?) is the only one from Taboo that can be considered for lead actor (So Raul and Boy George (yeah right) will be considered in featured. Also Little Shop will be in the best revival category.
I hope this helps.

Posted: 1/29/04 at 7:20amALL Hunter Foster has to qualify him for Seymour is the nerdy haircut, the glasses, and the cap. And even then he looks like the high school football star moonlighting as a "nerd" in the senior class production of "Little Shop." If the producers had taken more care to cast the leads correctly they might have had a major hit rather than this lame-duck entry.

Not to mention John Tartaglia and Stephanie D'Abruzzo from Avenue Q are also eligible as leads for Best Actor and Actress.

Hugh Jackman "The Boy From Oz"
Alfred Molina "Fiddler on the Roof"
John Tartaglia "Avenue Q"
Neil Patrick Harris "Assasins"
Michael T. Cerveris "Assasins"
As much as I really like Hunter Foster...I don't think its his year. He should have been nominated for "Urinetown" which was a much stronger performance.

Posted: 1/29/04 at 11:01amI saw Michael Cerveris in A Little Night Music here in Chicago at the Shakespeare Theatre. Do be quite honest, I couldn't picture him in the role of Carl Magnus, but he was just brilliant! He and the British woman (who's name escapes me at the moment) as Charlotte simply ran away with the show. I also saw him in Titanic and Tommy. He could very easily get a nomination for Assassins if the show is well directed.

Posted: 1/29/04 at 12:04pmI didn't know the committee has ruled already, but I was certainly correct on what the rules are. And I appoligize for misspeaking.
