Posted: 6/5/07 at 2:14pmIf they made changes, I'd like to hear it, but Elaine Paige is one of the worst singers I've ever heard, with bernadette and Buckley up there with her, so I certainly wouldn't pay to hear her sing 'As we stumble along' which is just a crappy song anyway

I saw Drowsy in the West End last night and I have to say I agree with you Fenchurch. They lowered some of the parts for her and she still didn't sound good. I've never seen her live before and I must say I was quite disappointed.
ETA: The singing was pretty weak across the board actually so I wouldn't care to buy a London cast recording of Drowsy.
Oh, and they had a bunch of copies of the second pressing of the LP or the cast recording.

I saw the show in London last week, and although the show as a whole is fantastic, the vocals werent the best i've heard.
I'd listened to the Broadway cast recording or a while and i'd love full recording including alot of Bob Martin's dialogue that was obviously taken out for time constraints, but i'd rather a full broadway recording with the original cast rather than a new UK one.
Never gonna happen, but i can hope i suppose.

I think people are used to seeing Elaine in starring roles, and although i thought she was good, i didnt think she was outstanding.
The role is a supporting one, and at the performance i was at a few people thought she was the star as she was plastered all over the billboards.
This show will and always will belong to Bob Martin.
I'm also not sure about it being the best cast, but they've all got time to get into their roles i suppose

Posted: 6/5/07 at 5:14pmElaine was not as gd as Beth BUT she had so much star power! The London cast is gd and I do hope they make a cast recording with it! I mean... if they print ELAINE PAIGE in the front, I bet it'll sell more than the OBC!

No idea. But I can say that on Monday night the orchestra was very full.
And the audience LOVED it!
