Despite my earlier post about figuring out if I should go see the play or not, it turned out to be moot considering the fact that I had a family emergency that prevented me from going even if I had wanted to or not. I did however, try the virtual lotto again and won for tonight. With that being said, I know that it is raining out and will continue to do so for much of the night. Is it worth going if the weather is like it is? I guess what i am asking is is that will it get rained out and it not being worth my time to go there because of that fact?
I have come to the conclusion that because I have never been to The Delecort before that I would go and give this show a chance and see. Maybe I might like it, maybe I wouldn't. But, I am willing to go in there and give it a chance and I figure that going to The Delecort for the first time should be fun. I just don't know their policy on rain outs. I do know that they do everything within their power to perform the show but I don't know if they will based upon their policy based on what is going on right now. Keep in mind, I would have no problem sitting in the rain for this due to the fact that I have gone to concert and sporting events in the rain and I never let that bother me.

First of all, why is it that even the simple questions you post contain paragraphs of stuff nobody cares about?
Second of all, it's up to the weather. Don't forget, if it starts raining mid-show, they can cancel the performance then, too.
it should be rained out every night so the audience can avoid seeing this...it was so painful to sit through.
I don't think there is a Delecort in NYC, is there?
I would just go, who knows what will happen. They're not going to cancel hours in advance because of the weather unless it is a really severe situation.

THIS.
In the past 2 years they've only canceled a performance before the show once. They'll basically only cancel the show pre-performance if the weather is dangerous for the actors. Which is basically, never.

i was there wed (LOVED it, fwiw) ... it rained a bit during the performance, almost steady toward the end, but the show went on!
a few people left because of the rain (mostly folks in wheelchairs, etc) -- and, yes, a few people left for other reasons before the rain became an issue -- but the overwhelming majority of the SOLD OUT audience hung in there with the performers til the end.
oh, and they stayed and clapped in the rain.
it is absolutley not for everyone. it also is not the abomination this board has made it out to be.
Also considering that the show is only 90 minutes, they'd be willing to hold curtain for quite as while as they'll have plenty of time to finish the performance before curfew.
went to the closing tonight and while the show wasn't the nightmare i feared it would be...it wasn't good. I didn't really look at other peoples reviews but am I the only one that HATED the Phillip Glass score and found it to be so bland?? By the end I wanted to punch someone in the face whenever the chorus started singing again. I did however really like Anthony Mackie (I just The Hurt Locker too and am now a big fan.)
But does anyone know what happened after Agave screamed towards the end?? She did her god awful shriek and literally two seconds later I heard a woman in the center section scream and a huge thump and a bunch of people freaked. Everything sort of stopped for a minute thank god and as I walked out of the Delacorte an Ambulance and police were approaching. i tried to peer over but it was too dark to see clearly what had happened. Anyone?
oops.
damn post button
I was also there tonight and would really like to know what happened. There was a scream from the back center section and a huge swarm of people crowded around something. Does anyone who was there know what was going on?
I was there tonight, too. I do kind of agree that the score wasn't the most appropriate. Most of the music was interesting, at least, but it was hard to pay attention to anything the chorus was saying while they were singing it. That was my biggest problem with the show overall, that the chorus couldn't really hold the focus.
And I think I heard talk of a woman getting bit by a raccoon or something. That might have been someone telling a joke, but it's certainly believable. I saw a raccoon run through a whole row house right, and that caused another small uproar.
I heard someone yell for help, and I think I heard somebody say to call 911. I know that there were lots of security who rushed around that area, and that it did cause a really awkward pause, and then for the rest of the show, the focus was never really regained by the production, as everyone kept glancing over to the spot to see if anything was happening.
