I know we barely saw the host. That song with Aretha just wasn't really that good. Oh well. There's always next year. I'm all for an Idina/Kristen team hosting!

HUGH definitely outshined Aretha in the "somewhere" performance... and I loved it

I agree, we didn't see as much of the host this year... but I love his reference to Oklahoma! and to Wolverine during his "never gonna dance" routine

he was light years better than aretha. he was good when we saw him, but unfortunately we at home didn't see him much.

I totally agree- last year Hugh was featured so much more and to better effect. While he is always good when on, last night there just wasn't enough of him to satisfy us all

I just read two threads about posting, but I'm combining my thoughts into one post.

I'd love to see Billy Crystal host next year, with a special performance by Hugh Jackman. That would be a great show, would satisfy the theater fans, and the producers would get their big Hollywood names on the broadcast. Everybody wins.

I adore Hugh, but I have to agree that Billy would be a great host. Three years is enough, hon. Let someone else have a try.

And yes, Hugh seemed to be better than Aretha during the "Somewhere" performance, but to tell the truth, after hearing that song during every commercial break on those TIAA Cref spots, I didn't pay much attention...

Hmm... I don't see why that would have ruined your attention. There were only like TWENTY SHOWINGS OF THAT GODDAMN COMMERCIAL!!! I hated them. All twenty!
