Won't be seeing Chita on wednesday nites

from broadway.com

Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life has canceled its Wednesday night performances. The tuner will play a seven performance per week schedule on Broadway, according to a production spokesperson.

Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life is scheduled to begin previews at Broadway's Schoenfeld Theatre on November 23 in preparation for a December 11 official opening.

It's amazing that someone her age can do ONE show a week of dancing all night! Get real, people!!

I'm perfectly simmered. Don't turn my denouncing of Rathnait's ignorance around on me.

I love it when a thread about Chita becomes all about the little drama-lovers.

I wonder if this will make her show uneligible for a Tony nomination. A few years ago, "Barbara Cook's Broadway" was deemed not eligible because she didn't play a coventional Broadway schedule of 8 shows a week.

So, this is kinda a random question, but do you think the ensemble still get paid the same as an ensemble member in another show that plays 8 shows a week? If so, then they got a sweet gig.

If I remember correctly, Elaine Stritch At Liberty did not play a full 8-performance schedule. I believe she only played 6 performances a week. And she WON the Tony award.

Barbara Cook didn't play a conventional schedule, she only played 2 shows a week, on Contact's dark nights. I think it was Contact. Possibly it was something else. Anyhoo.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

This seems to be a new trend, no Wed night perfs. It seems to be working for Sweet Charity (although they do make it up Sun nights). Hell, she's dancing for chrissake's, not just singing. Girlfriend needs a break!

Wasn't Billy Crystal's thing only on Sundays, or was that just the title? I've seen the show twice in San Diego, and let me tell you, just watching her do ONE performance makes me tired. If she did only 5 performances a week, that would be more than any young and healthy Broadway actress could or would want to do! Good idea on the Wed night thing--she needs a break and mid-week is perfect.

Crystal did 8 shows a week most weeks (with a few 7 show weeks mixed in).
