For those interested, just got an email today:
"Every Thursday from now through the opening of the new musical Wonderland, we'll give you a sneak preview of a new song or a new version from the concept recording (featuring the world premiere cast), which will be available for sale online and at our retail shop for $20 on or around Nov. 1 (pre-orders accepted now - go here to order online or call 813.222.1029)."
Although it doesn't sound too great to say it will be available "on or around"...it's great to see it's happening. On the recording will be Darren Ritchie, Julie Brooks, Nikki Snelson, Karen Mason, and the rest of the world premiere cast including Janet Dacal.
New clips are up on the site of star Janet Dacal (Alice) singing "Finding Wonderland" and Karen Mason (Queen of Hearts) singing "Off With Their Heads."
Next week's clip will be "Once More I Can See," for those who have heard that one before!

Karen Mason is in this?!
You know what THAT means!
Don't all the original musicals she has appeared in share one thing?

I won't lie. I enjoy his music, so I'll def check this out.
I'm excited for Bonnie & Clyde as well, all though that show doesn't seem to be getting any attention, but the shots look awesome.

It won't need her help...
I've always been a big Wildhorn fan, and still am.. but so far even I'll admit that this show is starting to seem a little.. Alice in Wonderland on crack... seriously I'll definitely get the cast recording anyway.. Even though what I reallyyy want is the demo listed on cast album collector.. that's listed with Lauren Kennedy and Brandi Burkhardt as Alice.
I thought Janet Dacal sounds pretty good on Finding Wonderland... not as good as Brandi, but easier to listen to than Lauren Kennedy. I look forward to hearing her Once More I Can See, thanks for the heads up!
The clips are short, but I'm liking what I'm hearing so far. Janet is awesome.

For those of us without an encyclopedic knowledge of these things, could someone please post a link?

I think Dacal sounds fine, but has nothing on Lauren Kennedy who has nothing on Brandi Burkhardt...but whatever.
The show isn't that weird - it's a modern re-telling with a different non-Wonderland story. I actually really like the story! I just hope Dacal is able to pull it off.
ANd in regards to B&C - I wish there was more info/buzz around it, but I'm pretty certain nothing will come of that one for a few years. Wonderland's been planned since 2007, and Bonnie & Clyde seemed to have been done on a whim, most likely because the remake of the film is coming out soon and I'm sure Wildhorn wanted to be first because apparently it's not based on the film.
Actually all the clips have been updated. Nikki Snelson as the Mad Hatter, Dacal & Darren Ritche in Through the Looking Glass / etc.!
I found this interesitng - it says it should be released very soon:
"The concept recording of Wonderland is scheduled for a fall/winter 2009 release in the United States and a fall/winter 2009 release internationally."
And I didn't even realize that the concept recprding for The Count Of Monte Cristo was available in English on itunes:
"A concept recording was released in Europe on 12 December 2008. The English-language CD features Thomas Borchert as Edmond Dantes (The Count of Monte Cristo), Pia Douwes as Valentine, Brandi Burkhardt as Mercédès, Patrick Stanke as Fernand Mondego, Mark Seibert as de Villefort, Mathias Edenborn as Baron Danglars, Jesper Tydén as Albert and Alexander Goebel as the Abbé Faria. The album is available from Sound of Music. The album is now available on iTunes (US, Germany, Austria or Switzerland). A digital download of the liner notes is also available, when purchasing the entire album from iTunes."
Yes tazber - the Count of Monte Cristo has been out for a while, some of it is VERY good (mostly Burkhardt & Borchert). The German/Swiss Cast Recording will be coming out by the end of the month apparently (with most of the same cast).
The Wonderland concept album was supposed to come out in the summer, but I'm sure with the Wildhorn & Friends concerts canceled and having to find the star of the show pushed things back - Lauren Kennedy of course was attached to the project for a while as well as Brandi Burkhardt, but I do atleast have a little more confidence in Dacal after hearing some of her.
I really like the Count of Monte Cristo recording and I'll probably buy Wonderland.

It sounds like Karen is on the concept recording. Is she cast in the production as well? Regardless, it's not like she's Debra Monk or anything.
Yes - Mason overtook the role of The Queen of Hearts from what was originally going to be Julia Murney.
The concept album is the WORLD PREMIERE cast recording.
Am I the only one who thinks Janet Dacal (who I enjoyed very much in IN THE HEIGHTS) sounds awful?
She pronounces the word "Wonderland" as "Wun-duh-lend," and she sounds flat for most of that clip.
Lest we forget the last show Julia Murney quit as rehearsals were beginning...
<-----
So, Julia Murney quits and is replaced by Karen Mason... SURELY there must be a role for Debra Monk in all of this! :)
P
Pgenre...more like she did the workshop and they were all given the chance to stay with the show, but all but 3 did not (Julie Brooks, Nikki Snelson & Tad Wilson) - most likely due to the fact there's a STRONG possibility that it's going to tour.
somethingwicked, I agree. She's my least favourite so far, but she alas has the part. She sounds much better in Finding Wonderland than in Through the Looking Glass atleast.
How is that any different than quitting before rehearsals start?!

They added a clip of "Once More I Can See" to the site and Janet Dacal sounds fantastic. Cannot wait to hear the whole version to find out what she does with the ending.

The lyrics for "Finding Wonderland" and "The Mad Hatter Attacks" are god-awful. Have Wildhorn or Murphy even read the books? Alice never refers to the land as Wonderland, nor does any other character but the unseen narrator, and the Hatter never refers to himself as such.
Illiteracy pisses me off.

Hums a few bars of the overture of THAT particular show.

I actually like the Mad Hatter song's lyrics. Finding Wonderland is a catchy tune with not many good lyrics. They claim they've read the two books ('Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass'), as well as watched several of the films according to the interviews on the site.
Refering to Wonderland as Wonderland in the show by Alice / others was probably thought needed or for whatever reasons thought it sounded good - I personally don't see a problem with it. I have more problems with certain lyrics that seem to just flat out end randomly (like the new clip of Through the Looking Glass - "As my crazy life begins to approach / critical mess / through the looking glass").
You can also hear Brandi Burkhardt's version of Once More I Can See (which I. again, like better than Dacal's, but it would appear that Brandi was the role's original intention in a Linda Eder fashion) in a longer clip, here:
Once More I Can See
Does anyone know where I can hear the music? My current comp lost its sound and my ipod touch says that the site I want to go to (the website) does not support that function to play the audio...but I can hear things on youtube or on itunes just fine...so if it's on any of those sites, let me know.
Thanks in advance!
