Mine was sitting through a Middle School do The Music Man, which they butchered. The Marion and Harold Hill were painful to watch. They COULD NOT sing. For their lives.

hm.........i was in a production of Oliver and everyone was stuck up and conceded (except me of course). it was a horrible experience.

The touring Company of Dreamgirls about 4 or 5 years ago. Awful, just awful!

Saterday NIght Fever on tour.. I was 14 then, and I felt like hitting the people who gave it a standing ovation with my soft-drink I got from concessions.

Oh lord, I've had a few but I'll go for one...This was at a really crappy regional theater and it was their summer teen production.

HORRIBLE show called "Bits of Broadway" in which they picked a ton of random Broadway songs and worked them into the plot line of an old abandoned theater and the ghosts that tell of its past. The acting was death. The way the lines were delivered you'd have thought they were either reading off a piece of paper or being so over the top it was just ridiculous. The singing...agh. I could have died. Seriously it was the worst singing I have ever heard. It was either tone-deaf guys or "let me scream my head off" girls. If I wasn't there for a friend who was in the show (he's not very good...blah) I would have left before intermission.

There was a production of Gypsy I saw at a JCC that was so horrible I believe Rose was screaming from her grave.
Won't give too many details but here's the main thing that pissed me off during the entire production:
Mama Rose is supposed to belt
This actress was like a bad Sarah Brightman impersonator

There was a show downtown called Ministry of Progress... I went with my roommate at school who had comp tix, thank GOD!! It was the worst show I've ever seen... About 3/4 of the way through we both looked at each other and said "what the hell is going on?!?!" It just didn't go anywhere and was painfully boring.

I've avoided high school and middle school musicals since I graduated from high school. It's just not the same after living here for a year and studying the art form...

a community theater production of "City of Angels" - sets were fallin', people were running for their lives. Mostly audience members.

On Broadway - "Look of Love" is the hands-down winner. What a mess - I passed up going out for a cigarette at intermission because I knew I wouldn't come back in and thought that would be rude! (No offense to anyone involved on this board who was involved - because the cast was great! One of those times I felt sorry for the cast.)

I generally suffer in silence and just tug on my beard if I'm hating something. I haven't done that lately so hopefully things (or my choices) are looking up.

Oh God. Trisky and I went to see a production of the Wizard of Oz as done by high school students. The scarecrow was rapping, the munchkins were ginormous and Dorothy made a detour into a Chinese restaurant in which the "Chinese" hostess was played by a very Caucasian young girl.

Come to think of it, the scarecrow also had KISS like make up on. IF I wasn't already afraid of clowns, this would have done it for me for sure.

We never made it to the second act because it was so bad.

That sounds truly heinous, MadeofGold. My worst musical experience comes from the night a group of friends and I went to a local high school to see "West Side Story." Actually, the only reason was to see their Tony; he was amazing and their Maria was pretty good but the production sucked otherwise. The singing and dialogue could not be heard over the orchestra and their treatment of "Somewhere" was ridiculous. Instead of Tony and Maria singing it, some random chorine butchered it offstage while Tony and Maria had a dream ballet thing. It was awful.

my worst experience was seeing les mis for the first time when i was like 10. the performance wasnt particularly bad (or maybe it was, i just dont remember) but les mis isnt exactly a simple show and i didnt know anything about it or really appreciate that kind of music. so the whole time i was flipping through the program trying to figure out who was who and what the heck was happening, then trying to explain it to my friends. now that im older i have more of an appreciation for the show and im glad i gave it another shot

Rose_Macshane, it was even worse than I described if you can believe that. O_O However, your experience sounds terrible too. You don't mess with West Side Story, yo. You just don't! :P

I saw a production of Chicago that was horrendous. Their mics weren't wireless and for All That Jazz, Velma just stood there and the chorus came out at the end and stood like in choir formation and just sang with a tableau at the end. Painful. No one could act!

My HIGHSCHOOL! They did a production of grease that almost killed me. They made one of the songs a trio....now of these three girls, one was just plain bad, her voice was just untrained and not a singing voice, another was sharp and another was flat....now add harmony

Also, when I went to the audition I got called back for sandy and frenchy and when I went to the callbacks they said "what grade are you in" I said "ninth" they say "oh then you can't be here" so I left the show. After seeing it, I was really realllly happy I did :)

High school production of "Grease". The Teen Angel was awful, changing his pitch randomly throughout the show; his big finish was far from good...for some reason his applause was one of the largest.

The Australian touring production of a British show called Oh What a Night! This one should of stayed in the British provinces (where it is still touring!). The show is set in New York in the 1970's, giving it the perfect excuse to sing a lot of old disco hits. The main storyline concerns a Hollywood talent/location scout looking for a venue to film a movie set in a disco, (gosh) and the score is going to be written by the Bee Gees, and it goes down hill from there. Truly horrendous.

Aspiringguy715, thats an interesting idea for a show, tho...

I have two: one with a musical, one with a play. My friends and I went and saw a HS production of Guys and Dolls, and it was terrible lol. Skye was bad, Nathan was decent, Nicely was a skinny guy who rapped his songs, and Benny was nothing special. Sarah was the worst tho, I've never heard someone be so off pitch lol.

The second was the play at my school last fall. It was soooo bad lol. Everyone forgot lines, a scene was skipped (don't ask me how that happened), and our lead almost took down the set when he walked on stage. It was so bad, I usually don't acknowledge it happened lol.

I saw a community theatre production of "Sunday in the Park" which was just terrible. This is one of my favorite musicals, too, and I had brought some friends who were not very familiar with Sondheim, just to introduce them to his work. Big mistake. In retrospect, Sunday may not be the best choice to introduce someone to Sondheim, but this particular production in particular... *shakes head*

I also had the misfortune of seeing Ricky Martin in Les Miserables.
