I know that we have all talked about it before, and yes i did search, but I was just wondering. Who do you think is the worst example of stunt casting? I thought of this when reading the "jessica simpson as elphaba" thread...(not saying thats the worst.)
Eden Espinosa in Anything...

I agree, all three of those people are just to"hollywood" to capture that straving artist personality.
George Hamilton in "Chicago"
Susan Lucci in "Annie Get Your Gun"

Drew Lachey and Mel Brown were pretty bad. Drew still sucks.

Matthew Broderick in the TV version of "The Music Man." In my opinion, THE most insane bit of miscasting in decades. A fine comedic actor in his own right but so incredibly wrong for the part of Harold Hill, this was not trouble but TORTURE in River City.
David Hasselhoff as Galinda....no wait, that hasn't happened yet.
Good God, thats scary. Mel B, Drew Lachey, and Joey Fatone in RENT. What is this world coming to?? Please please please dont ever let Joey Fatone be Seymour!

Kathryn Crosby in STATE FAIR. If her name had ben Kathryn Smith, she couldn't have gotten the role in a community theatre.

Definately Hasselhoff in JEKYLL.
Is it just me, or did the man sound like a billygoat?
Rewind.
Susan Lucci was in "Annie Get Your Gin"?
???
Any pictures?
I will second the Jon Secada in Cabaret thing...He was deplorable.
Scary Spice... Made a REALLY scary Mimi. You'd think she'd have all those notes. But you'd be wrong.

Rent and Chicago seem to own the stunt casting category

Well..Really..Rent was pretty much made to give no-names a break but when you cast people who've already had a foot in the door of the hollywood way, it spells trouble. I can't see them as good in Rent, because their Joey, Drew and Mel, Not Mark, Mimi and whoever Joey played..People still just see them as the famous person and not as the character and that would ruin Rent in my opinion..

Didnt see FATone in RENT- but mel brown aka scary spice was THE worst. She couldnt sing or act... blah blah blah...
But I will say drew lachey seems to be doing just fine. He was alright in my book- not the best, but the worked it...:)
Personally, I think any "stunt casting" is bad. "Stunt casting," pretty much by definition, priotizes name and celebrity over talent and type. With very few exceptions, I've never seen a "stunt cast" person who was more qualified than a dozen other, less "well-known" actors.
It's all relative, though, really. If you're calling it "stunt casting," then the person was bad. If the person's good, it's just a star is a great role. Look at Reba in AGYG...no one's called it "stunt casting." Why? Because she was good, and her presence in the show didn't detract from it, or pull you out of the experience.

Yes, Susan Lucci was in AGYG ::shivers:: -
My vote goes to David Hasselhoff - and he was the one to immortalize J&H on video - yuck
my vote undoubtably goes to Ms. Susan Lucci in Annie get your Gun! I was utterly SHOCKED when I heard it, still can't believe that it happened.
