Margo, please don't ever say those words to me again.
They still wake me in the middle of the night as I sit up screaming. That and the thought of a wheelchair bound Debra Monk singing out of one side of her mouth.

"all the shows listed above I thought were AMAZING - except for DRACULA and 42ND STREET."
Then you say: "I'm shocked that people would consider THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, 42ND STREET, CABARET, TAKE ME OUT, and CONTACT as "worst" shows. People complain about mediocre crap taking over Broadway, then they consider amazingly written and classic shows to be awful. I don't get it. But, it's not my opinion, and my rant is over. So the WORST shows I've seen are"
And then go on to list The Producers - which could hardly be called the "worst" show.
I have never seen the Producers (only the original movie and LOVE it), but I don't like the cast recording too much. The worst show that I have seen? Well, I have only seen a few so I would have to say.....Jekyll and Hyde. It wasn't all bad, but there were a lot of parts I was really bored. Lucy was the best thing about it. I think the concept recording with Warlow and Eder should have stayed just that; a recording. It was gorgeous, frightening, thrilling, saddning, etc. But, the show was pretty bad.

I don't want to start a war again, but I am rather surprised that no one said Wicked since ppl seem to not like that show too much... ah well who am I to complain.
Little Sally- was that the off-Broadway version of Satruday Night Fever?
and Drew- what didn't you like about Beauty and the Beast?
"It's a great feeling of power to be naked in front of people. We're happy to watch actual incredible graphic violence and gore, but as soon as somebody's naked it seems like the public goes a bit bananas about the whole thing."
And another question, Bobby- what about the Frogs displeased you? did Roger not entertain?

Sally - Frogs - the music didnt go anywhere....it sounds like it was in a 4 note range. Nathan Lane sounded like he was about to puke everytime he sang the name Ariadna (sp). Roger Bart had one look on his face the entire time I was there, "What the hell have I got myself into!". I have never walked out of a musical in my life and this was a first.

sallybrown, i was also thinking who could put rent down but it is their opinion.
"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell

my mom didn't like it and i have heard of some older folks who have not enjoyed it. Once i saw some grandparents walk out of the theater.

In response to someone being surprised that a bunch of people didn't list WICKED, here is my reason for not. Even though I think WICKED is terribly flawed and very very messsy, it is undeniably a fun time. That's why I didn't list MAMMA MIA. Terrible show, but some songs never fail to make me smile. That's my reasoning at least. Even though WICKED is flawed (almost tragically,) I wouldn't even put it on my top 20 worst shows list becuase it just isn't as bad as people say it is.

aida. oh dear. i just thought the music was bad, the lyrics were bad, the acting was bad (saw a touring show. the only good feature was the dancing, scenery and costumes. what can you expect from a disney show. thats why im worried about Billy Elliot. Elton is doing the music.

I totally disagree with you. The only good thing about AIDA was the cast and music. You can't get much better than Heather Headley, Adam Pascal, and Sherie Renee Scott singing Elton's AMAZING score. His score is literally amazing for that show - how can you hate the score?
I thought the sets, costumes and choreography were absolutely wretched. The sets looked cheap, costumes were all wrong it seemed, and the choreography was just random spasmodic jumping and banging - typical Cilento. How could anyone think the Choreo was good and the music is bad?

1) i'm not a big Elton fan 2) i saw a touring company w/ a wretched aida and a wretched prince and a wretched dad. i mean, Keanu(sp) Reeves could've put more oomph into the part than these actors did.

Haha I get what you're saying. The only tour I've ever seen was one of CATS after I had seen it on Broadway a few times. CATS is one of my favourite shows EVER - and everytime I saw it on Bway it was amazing. On tour, it was a load of ****.
It's kind of ironic that someone with WICKED as an avatar thinks one of the greatest masterpieces of MT is the worst show. I'm not trying to be mean or nasty, but I just find it very sad.

i see lots of shows on tour (mamma mia, music man, hair) and usually i think they are just, eh. (except for Hair which was STUNNINg, but thats because i've always worshipped the show). I love b-way shows better and regret that i picked seeing taboo (2nd time) for aida. though i loooooooooooooooooooooove Taboo since i first saw it in london. i wish i'd seen aida on bway
