The actor always gets role before the singer. So maybe he was just an amazing actor.

Well then I dunno what to tell ya.
I know you're upset, and believe me I understand!
But I think an actor should be given a role over a singer, b/c acting is more of an important force behind a character.
Yeah...the audience needs to believe the actor before they can enjoy their singing.

Please tell us the role that you didn't get.

wait...you said:
"But- the role wasnt really the role I wanted. "
so..now you don't care that you didn't get the role?
Maybe it's a physical thing. Sometimes they need to cast a company that looks a certain way together and age, height, weight, coloring becomes a factor.

You don't like Agony?
Well, Rapunzel's Prince is a very good part as well (he gets the best lines in Agony).

So..let's examine..
you audition for a show..you don't get the part that you're perfect for...you get cast in another great role...but you don't want it and you're here bitching about it.
Kid..get a clue. How many people auditioned for this show? How many didn't get cast? How many, like yourself, thought they were perfect for a certain role in the show...but DIDN'T EVEN GET CAST.
Learn this now...this is an unpredictable business. And while this isn't a professional show, this is how the profession works. You were cast over many others who were not even offered a role. How do you think THEY feel?
If this role pains you so much, tell the director you decline their offer. Then, someone who really wants to do the show and the role will have the chance.
And stop whining.

Perhaps they thought they could work with the person they did cast, and decided to cast more so based on looks.
ITW is being done off-off broadway?
please let me know where this is happening.
i understand how some shows it's better to cast an actor more than a singer but i have sat through shows where the acting was great but during the singing i just wanted to kill myself. i think it's important to find someone who is talented in both area's. i know it's not always easy to find this in smaller productions since the turn out is not always as big for auditions.

I woudl have to say the opposite. I think that, right now anyways, they're casting singers over actors. Then surrounding their bad acting with a lot of great sets, costumes and special effects. I haven't seen that many great actors on Broadway in a while actually. In musicals, I mean. Of course there are exceptions, like Stokes, ol' Kudisch, the cast of Assassins, and such. But on the whole, I'd say they're going singers over actors right now. Two cents, tossed.

I know what you mean, but you got a role (a good one, too). Make the best out of that role, just make the casting people regret not giving you the other role. No need to be bitter about it, just use it as a stepping stool to make yourself better.

Adding my own pennies... I thought Avenue Q had some surprisingly good acting in it, plus they were great puppeteers.

You have to realize you can't get every (or any, depending on your true talent) role.
