So I saw Xanadu on the Tuesday after the Tonys and was told two or three times by employees at the theater that the show was running on a week to week basis, and that the house had been over half empty for some time.
But at that performance there were only four empty seats in the entire theater that I could see (I was onstage and counted). After the show, the employees seemed shocked at the crowd.
Now I've read in another thread that the Wednesday matinee was much the same, with an near-sell out.
Anyone been to any performances since Tuesday and can tell us if that trend is continuing, because "Xanadu" is definitely a show I would love to stick around.
We'll know tomorrow, when this past week's numbers are released.

Unless they all repent, they'll never be stable!
^^^ NO ONE RESPOND TO THIS JACKASS'S THREADS OK? I didn't wanna say it in his threads so just pretend he doesn't exist. Please.
SgtDonut just ignore him that's the best policy he's entitled to his opinion even if everyone else disagrees with him, we won't stay on her for long, i acctually think it's kind of funny

I got tickets to see it this Friday night!
I went the night after the Tonys and it was almost sold out. I went two weeks before the Tonys and there were five people in the mezzanine, about half the orchestra was full, and on stage wasn't even sold out. It was quite scarce.

I think the Tony's defintely helped it. I've seen it 5 times and 3 of those times the performance was sold out. I've never seen it when there was massive amounts of empty seats so I always thought it was doing quite well. I'm sure it will last through summer
Hey good for them. I'll always be pulling for Xanadu.
Even if it did well this week (which I hope it did!!) one good week will not put it into stable condition. We'll have to see if the Tony performance/ exposure translates into box office.
The show was sold out when I saw it this past Friday (2008.06.20).
I think that the their Tony performance did help them. They kicked butt and I certainly thought they had the best performance of the night. Hopefully they stick around for a while. But like you said, only time will tell
ah! fyi~ Xanadu is on TDF till July 5. Everyday! including Saturday evenings.

...SUB-average Joe I'd say...the fool made me laugh. a member under a week, and devotes his space to trying to repent the JOYOUS AND FREE. obviously, the jerk has no love for theatre, surprised he even wants to hang out and read what homos like me have to say...ME THINKS HE DOTH PROTEST A BIT TOO MUCH.

xanadu is in great condition! will def. last thru the summer and into the fall!
I was there on Saturday 6/21/08 evening and it was SOLD OUT!
Jaystarr - What's your point? That's a holiday week and almost every single show on Broadway has tickets listed at MAJOR DISCOUNTS during that time. That's because most people leave the city for holiday! Just look at all the discounts here...
http://www.broadwaybox.com/recentdiscounts.aspx
And speaking of holiday, aren't you supposed to be on vacation in Spain? Why don't you go out and have a good time instead of sitting online and throwing XANADU, one of your "favorite shows" under the bus again?
AND ANOTHER THING... In the whole year the show's been playing they only had 2 weeks where they lost money (according to one of the producers!)
Jeff- I am about to go to bed, honey? I took 1 hour siesta bec. they close everything at noon..grrrr....that's why I am up soo late!- just checking last minute drama here!

I'm not so sure about the losing money thing, but I don't know what the weekly nut is but I can't imagine it to be under 200K, which is what the rumor around town is. If that's true, it's lost money more than two weeks.
And, i don't think Jay was posting the TDF info to be snarky or throw our beloved Du under the bus. Rather, I think he just posted it to be helpful and let all of us know that great discounts are to be found all week! :)
-TourBoi, upset that he's not home in SF when Jay's visiting the City by the Bay!
So I guess you know better Tourboi, and the producer is lieing then! FYI - It's a small theater & has very low running costs.
BTW - Jay wasn't posting about "other" shows... just XANADU.
And Jay - It's OK to check it, honey... but you don't have to create it! You know I wasn't being snarky, and that I love you!! Now go to bed, but HAVE A GOOD TIME DAMN IT!!!
Sorry tourboi..I will miss you next week! I will be in San Francisco from 6/29 to 7/5. I posted something on the SanFran board~for those who wants to meet us. We will be there for the Gay Pride.
Yeah... I am going to bed now. (its 10;42 pm here) ..I just drink my sleeping pills, besides my laptop battery will die soon. I forgot to bring a transformer/adapter. I totally forgot that they whole world dont run on 110 watts! lol! my camera's battery just died on me- i have to buy disposable cameras! soo p*ssed!

I'm not saying I know better, or that they were lying. I'm saying that with costs what they are, I'd be shocked if they had a nut UNDER 200K, and since there have been many weeks grossing under that...
Now, if the nut is REALLY that low, and they have only had a few losing weeks, then that's awesome. My love for the show is no secret, and I fully admire what the producers and all involved have created and brought to Broadway. I just look at the numbers in shock that its only lost money for two weeks? If they can have a FULL musical on broadway for that cheap, then other producers have quite a lot to learn!
For what it's worth, tonight's performance is sold out.
