Xanadu Cast Recording to Arrive in January 2008
PS Classics will record the original cast recording of the new musical Xanadu, which currently plays the Helen Hayes Theatre.
The cast of the acclaimed musical — including Kerry Butler, Cheyenne Jackson, Tony Roberts, Mary Testa, Jackie Hoffman, Curtis Holbrook, Anika Larsen, Kenita Miller and Andre Ward — will head into the recording studio Oct. 29.
Jeffrey Lesser will produce the CD, which is expected to arrive in stores Jan. 8, 2008. The cast recording will be available the first week of December by visiting the PS Classics website, the Xanadu website or the Helen Hayes Theatre.

OK, now could someone please explain why you want this?
Because as with every Broadway show, there are people who like it and want a cast recording. And for many, they want it because they like the cast and because it is different from the film soundtrack. The cast recording is for those who wish to relive the experience of the Broadway show, not the film. Those who don't like the show or don't want the recording won't buy it. So what?

Huzzah indeed! Maybe we need to set up some kind of program...buy them at the HH and ship them to all the fANADUs that can't wait until January.
Of course Annie will be on it, she sings the show every night!

Xanadu 
As announced this past week at all the theatre websites, we’ll be recording the original Broadway cast recording of XANADU on October 29th, and looking to have it in stores on January 8th. But because we recognize that it’s going to make a great holiday gift, we’re aiming to have it on sale exclusively here at PS Classics (and at the Helen Hayes Theatre) the first week of December. More info as it becomes available!
I know there's nothing new but I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

So I was just on the PS Classics website. It says there that the CD will be released December 11th.
Anyone else excited?!?!?!
Question, is there anyway to pre order the CD (aside from Amazon). Usually when you pre order from the record company, they send out the orders a bit earlier. There is no where to pre order on the PS Classics website nor on the Xanadu site. Am I missing something?

The official release date is January 8, 2008.... But it will be available at the Helen Hayes Theater and on PS Classics website on (or around) December 11, 2007.
So if you order it on Decemmer 11 from PS Classics that would be like pre-ordered. The only other place you can pre-order it now would be from Amazon but I would wait for PS Classics to have an order form (or go to the theater, which is what I'll do.)
