Posted: 3/28/08 at 9:13pmIs it accurate to say that the past 6 months were from the original advance but that now due to poor reviews/word of mouth that there is little advance sales now. And that's why 1) the removal of premium/premier seating and 2) substantial discounts?

It's only been on TKTS for performances in the early parts of the week. We can start pronouncing death sentences when it is on the TKTS board eight times a week and even then it would be premature.

I went last week and it was full. Keep in mind that the Hilton is the biggest theatre on Broadway and it's not easy to fill 1800 seats every night, no matter what the show.
Also, I know they stopped selling the $400 tickets because of the backlash against them, so perhaps they're trying to build good will? At any rate, I wouldn't count on it closing soon.

My favorite thing that I noticed when I saw the commercial again is the phone number for purchasing tickets. 1-800-MEL-BROOKS. The ego remains intact I suppose.

Posted: 3/28/08 at 9:30pmIt has no needs to worry, i went 2 weeks ago and it is still selling out completely to a week day night performance 1 week before spring break. By the way Bigred3535 it is not the Hilton is no the biggest house on Broadway, it's the Gershwin by just a few seats.

Posted: 3/28/08 at 11:21pmI saw the show last night, and it was completely sold out. The ushers said it had been like that for a while and were expecting more nights like that to come. Despite the poor reviews and buzz, it was a very polished and hilariously entertaining evening - a great finish to my trip to the city.

Broadway Enthusiast who supplied the link to "TDF"...um....the link you supplied
was a ticket BROKER link (unless I got hi-jacked) with tickets in the 240 per range.
Not sure what that's all about...

You folks need to understand there's a difference between FULL and SOLD OUT.
SOLD OUT implies that everyone in the house paid for their tickets.
FULL means that the seats were filled, but not necessarily paid for.

Posted: 3/29/08 at 10:51amYet a show could also be SOLD OUT but not FULL, but I'd assume that happens much more at sporting events than in the theater.

Posted: 3/29/08 at 10:51amWell we actually get to see it today. It should be interesting.
#17re: YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN On TDF- Many Dates Added
Posted: 3/29/08 at 11:12amI know there were 4 empty seats in the second row on the side on Sunday. My friend and I did the lottery and won, and I noticed them empty about halfway through the 1st act. So if Sunday was a "sell out" it certainly wasn't "full".

I think they just try to make people forget about thoe "unfamous" $400 seats. Besides, it was only a couple of rows... When will people stop bashing on this show?
