Isn't there a dearth of Broadway theaters at the moment? Why are they wasting space with this?

He's only playing for six days, so if the theater is open, why wouldn't they make some money on it?!
He's not doing some Springsteen on Broadway thing for a year and a half...

Calm your t*ts! it's a 6-day run. There aren't a whole lot of plays waiting for a theatre to become available for less than a week's run!

When I first read this, I mistakenly saw it as "Yank to play limited Broadway run this spring..." and I wondered how a show that never quite made it in spite of a big push could end up with a week on Broadway over ten years after it never went anywhere to begin with, who could possibly gain by it and what could be weirder.
Yanni playing on Broadway is weirder. I had no idea he was still around.

What Yanni does isn't ART? Boy do you need to expand your idea of what art is. It might not be your taste, (it's not really mine) but it is art.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I agree. Do we think the Lunt will just become a place for residencies and won't have actual productions? Or are they waiting for a production--maybe Dreamgirls or something? Isn't that supposed to transfer at some point?

You should really read the whole thread. I’ve alreadt said these shows are keeping the theatre occupied until TINA takes it this Fall.

Even if nothing were officially confirmed. I think a theater can safely know that it can host someone for six days before its next open-ended run lands, and we can safely assume that no show isn't losing out on a theater because of Yanni...

I guess I was just thinking that here’s are a lot of limited runs on Broadway right now so I was wondering why people would assume Tina is going into the LF. It could be Tina. A lot has been announced to come in and it could be one of those shows. We won’t know until there’s an official announcement,
