Yo, "Matt" - below is a link to an anger management crisis center in Midtown. You might want to give them a shout out - or, in your case, a HOLLER.

i don't know why you're all taking personal jabs at Matt... he posted his feelings, a bit strong perhaps, about Brooklyn, and you all are taking so personally...
Ahamm.. no..
Just a side note: Brooklyn is up by 8.5% attn. this week
T-T- Are you the producer?
honestly, i don't mind Tiny's posts... they are supportive without being obnoxiously over-the-head beating...
"T-T- Are you the producer?"
No, i just looked at the grosses the playbill posted.. ???
And thanks joeyjoe, that's the difference between a shill and a fan
I don't even know who "Matt Rogers from American Idol" is, but the fact that all you Brooklyn lovers know a piece of American Idol trivia like that says a lot about the type of people who just love this hoorendous show.
I'm interested to know what shows you people actually hated. Anything requiring a brain cell would probably be on the list.
Review moved to "Brooklyn or When Bad Material Happens To Good Performers" thread.
matt rogers- in answer to you question, there are not really many theatre experiences that i've "hated". some may be leaps and bounds above others, but i usually have a good time in any show where there is talent and creativity. it's entertainment afterall. if it makes you feel better i will say that i was dissapointed with "fiddler" this past weekend (saw it friday night). i enjoyed seeing the rethought staging, but found the characterizations to be quite weak. had a much better experience at "brooklyn" where the actors were having the time of thier lives and the audience was engaged.

Although I loved Brooklyn, I definitely agree that the plot needs work. The whole thing with Paradice saying she has a heart and she really is good inside doesn't make much sense, because then she goes back to being an asshole. And I get the fact that it's a "story within a story" and that Ramona Keller is playing TWO characters but come on... wearing garbage outfits at Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden?? Kinda ridiculous.
I'm not a shill, or an anti-shill (Pill? lol). I loved the music and the cast, but there are definitely things that need to be revised. Just my two cents.
Curtain,
I thought that too about Eden's voice and the chance for vocal problems, but given how &%#@#!#% high the mic is amped up, she will be fine.
Eden got a new "Street Singer" dress =D It's made out of take out bags..like hundreds of them.
Chinese food?
T-T- What time does your shift end? HAHA
didn't you say that already? like 3 days ago? ammm..
Dont you have anything new to say?
swankified- just wanted to explain that the 'garbage outfits' that are worn throughout the show are supposed to be costumes that a group of five street performers have put together. that would be why all of the props and costumes were made of things you could pick up on the side of the road.... just thought i'd clarify.

But I think by now, for the most part, everyone gets the fact that the garbage bags are because they are street performers---some of us just find it to get rather old after a while. I personally only found Ramona's outfits to be really interesting throughout the show and the rest were just... blah especially Eden's. But yeah, I don't care why they're doing it but wearing that in CH and MSG is just weird. Plain and simple. Updated On: 10/14/04 at 07:32 AM
Swank & Nstar - But yeah, I don't care why they're doing it but wearing that in CH and MSG is just weird.
They're supposed to be high fashion dresses which they wear to CH and MSG - so you're not supposed to see them as garbage ...If you do...you're not seeing it as they intended you to..
...What should they wear? they can't come out wearing a silk versace now can they? where would a homeless person get that from? DUH

Wickedfan2--- They ARE playing up on the fact that it is garbage because if they weren't, half the fans of the show, wouldn't be coming out saying, "I think it's so amazing that they made the costumes out of garbage." For every person that has commented on these outfits, not one has left out the fact that they were "made of garbage."
Not once did I say it was WRONG... I said it was weird and it is weird. I don't care if you're a fan of the show but at least be mature enough to admit that those type outfits in those types of places is not ordinary. That's all I'm saying. And as to:
"...What should they wear? they can't come out wearing a silk versace now can they? where would a homeless person get that from? DUH"
if you were trying to be funny, it failed because no one is saying that they need designer dresses, so please stop now. But how many homeless people have you seen? I've lived in NYC my whole life and not once have I seen homeless in the types of clothes Brooklyn is sporting. In fact, I've seen homeless people in a lot nicer outfits. You know what, I've seen homeless people who don't even look like they are... so if REAL homeless people can pull it together and look decent, what's stopping the million dollar production of Brooklyn from doing so?
Correction- Brooklyn isn't homeless in this show, so why would she dress as if she were?
Streetsinger IS homeless, and I have seen homeless people in this city (NYC) who dress eerily similar. Especially that trenchcoat covered in buttons/mirrors.
Also, because these streetsingers live underneath the Brooklyn Bridge, in what appears to be a never-ending construction zone, I think it's wonderful that all of the costumes are made NOT NECESSARILY from trash, but from objects you'd find on the street or on a construction site. The idea is that the borough of Brooklyn is such a huge part of their lives that it even creeps into what they wear.
I especially love Paradice's bubble wrap stole. It lends itself perfectly to when she says "I've heard some rumblings about me..." and proceeds to stomp on the bubble wrap.
And no, I don't think this costuming is weird. It may not be what some consider the "norm" but what is? Saris under a fountain? A green witch on a broomstick? A straight man playing a Nazi-era transvestite in a skirt suit and pearls?
NSTAR - I see your point...homeless people don't dress like that...but what I'm trying to get across is that the show is about streetperfomers who put ON A SHOW about two singing sensations and so they gathered whatever they found on the street to make elaborate dresses for the SHOW they were acting out so for ME it makes sense and is not weird...
maybe I'm weird..

Love4Cheno- I know that Brooklyn isn't homeless which was one of my issues with the show. The girl is rich and yet she dresses in rags the whole time? Please. Again, there are nicer clothes she could have gotten off the street to put on that performance as Brooklyn. Like I said in other posts, I never had a problem with Paradice's costumes. I thought they were great, the best in the show in terms of using what they gather on the street to make scene.
"And no, I don't think this costuming is weird. It may not be what some consider the "norm" but what is? Saris under a fountain? A green witch on a broomstick? A straight man playing a Nazi-era transvestite in a skirt suit and pearls?"
You are taking these shows out of context. Yes, a green witch on a broomstick is normal if we're discussing the story of the Wizard of Oz or in this case Wicked. That's normal, that's what people expect to see. But there is no getting around CH and MSG---people know those places and yes, anyone dressed in trash in them is weird. And now adressing this to Wickedfan2 as well, maybe weird is the wrong word, didn't think that people would get caught up on it but the point I'm getting across is that it's not what you expect to see and I would think that's a point we could all agree on (regardless of it being a street performance). When you think of "trash," you don't put it together with CH and MSG.
NStar - I never thought of it that way...you're right...Bklyn is not homeless...she's rich and a famous singer...so you're saying in the SHOW she should have on real outfits and street stuff like Cleavant, Paradice and Kevin?
Oy vey...I'm really confused now

Wickedfan2, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it confusing. But yes, I do think that Brooklyn's clothes could have been nicer because she is famous and can afford to buy nicer clothes. Not saying that it has to be over the top but I think they could have been better. And now thinking about this, Love4Cheno, if I remember correctly, Brooklyn does at times refer to herself as being homeless or it is strongly implied and it annoyed me throughout the whole show because if you're wealthy and famous, you aren't homeless and you can afford a better attire.
