...gives the wrong impression about the show. It's not auditioning for a recreation of the movie, it's auditioning for a revival of the musical. Plus that song is nowhere in the musical, is it? It was created for the movie.

Plus I think the contestants behind Al Roker and the hostess were obnoxious when they sang "We Go Together" while the hostess was being interviewed.

It is a "Re-vamping" of the show. It will contain some of the movie music, hence the title of the show, "You're the one that I want."

Yeah. I said that earlier. They should treat it like the show NOT the movie. But it's better known as the movie. It was stupid.

I was in the Brazilian company of Grease, and it included both songs from the show and film, it worked pretty well.

Is Sandy still going to be American and is her last name still going to be Dumbrowski?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing when I saw it. I hope it stays true to the show. I was in a production that mixed in songs from the film and I hated it. We had to start the show with "Grease is the Word", which I unfortunately had to sing, and it was horrid. I have to say though, even though I prefer "All Choked Up" to "Your the One that I Want", that song did work alright within the context of the musical.

I hear it is using all the music written for the Movie including GREASE IS THE WORD (maybe they can get JLY to sing it)
They even have the Fun House set in that commercial.
I just hate this whole idea and that commercial is nauseating.

The production is based on David Ian's long running, recent London production (recent being 5-10 years), which incorporated the score to the movie as well as the show. The same version is available through Sam French (actually, you can license the 3 movie songs).

Well, NBC is probably more concerned about finding an audience for the tv show than it is about how true their marketing is to the spirit of the original musical. They want people to watch the show, so they are going to go for iconic imagery and songs like "Mooning" and "Alone at a Drive-In Movie" aren't it.

I knew when I saw the commercial this morning that someone would start a thread like this about it.

I'm pretty sure I saw Dominic Nolfi as one of the "contestants" behind Al Roker. But don't quote me on that.

The whole show is a scam. Two of my friends are in it and you wouldn't believe how fake this show is.

I hope the keep the classic songs like "Mooning". That's my favorite song! I won't go to see this unless it has good word of mouth reviews or a broadway star I like is in it.

tis rather disheartening, my kind sir. I should wish to dig my talons into the flesh of all who are responsible for this blasphemy but being a good obedient god fearing grease-puritan I must shun the devil and look only toward gods holy light. I believe in the holy trinity of book, lyrics and music...and so help me danny zuko, lead us not unto temptation of a bad revival. he in all his holiness will make things right with this broadway production. may no harm or bad direction come its way.

Sang it sista! The holy trinity of Danny/Sandy/Rizzo shall not be broken, the bonds of the lord will raise us up and make us unto his image, and feed our soul with the fruit of the original production!

You can view the commercial on NBC.com. How many times are we going to see these totally unoriginal Reality TV Talent Shows with the three judges?

How dare they ruin a brilliant, first rate book musical like GREASE by adding songs from the most-successful-movie-musical-adaption of all time.

How dare they do a reality show that will expose millions of people to Broadway, New York and musical theatre.

How dare they! How DARE they!
