re: Young Frankenstein

Will this be the show used to usher in higher prices?

I say yes. Hope to somehow see it however

re: Young Frankenstein

I wouldn't mind Kerry Butler as Inga either, though I'm sure some people would.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

re: Young Frankenstein

Link Larkin Wanabe, if The Lord of The Rings isn't greatly improved from the Toronto version, Michael Therrault will be available to take the role just about in time.....

re: Young Frankenstein

I'm 99% sure this isn't official, but apparently Brian d'Arcy James got offered the lead part. Good for him. Just, wow.

Yes, it's Brian.

Awesome! He deserves it, no doubt.

re: Young Frankenstein

I think they should try to keep the B&W theme to the show.

It would be quite a challenge, but I'd love to light a live B&W show. . the makeup would be murder, but if Elphaba can be green, Frankenstein could be gray.

re: Young Frankenstein

I think keeping the black and white theme would be really neat.

Interesting that Chenoweth, Kudisch, and d'Arcy James will go from working together in "The Apple Tree" to YF.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

re: Young Frankenstein

My main casting choices are

Shuler Hensley or John Treacy Egan for The Monster
Roger Bart for Igor
and Brian d'arcy James, David Hyde Pierce, or Hank Azaria for Frankenstein.

Didn't Shuler play the monster in Frankenstein The Musical off-broadway?

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS SHOW!!!!!!

re: Young Frankenstein

It's funny that you guys just mentioned the black and white idea. I was thinking about that too. I guess because everytime I picture the film in my mind it's always in b&w. I think it would be a great gimmick! I had the pleasure of seeing Edward Gorey's DRACULA years ago and the b&w everything (except for a single touch of red in each scene...a rose, a glass of wine, etc.) was stunning!

re: Young Frankenstein

That would be great if they did that with YF!

Brian D'Arcy James has been cast as Dr. Frankenstein according to today's NY Post - Michael Riedel

re: Young Frankenstein

Correction: Last week, I reported that the wonderful Kristin Chenoweth will play Inga in the upcoming reading of "Young Frakenstein." In fact, she'll be playing Elizabeth (the Madeline Kahn role). Sutton Foster will play Inga. A new addition to the cast is Brian D'Arcy James, who's been cast as Dr. Frankenstein.

From Today's Post.

re: Young Frankenstein

Schuler played Frankenstein's Monster in the Hugh Jackman movie, Van Helsing. it was a little Oklahoma reunion for them.

re: Young Frankenstein

Yeah but he also did the musical off broadway.

The Monster: Shuler Hensley
Igor: Roger Bart
Frau Blucher: Madeline Kahn
Inga: ?
Elizabeth: Kristin Chenoweth
Frankenstein: Brian d'arcy James

Perfect cast right there!

re: Young Frankenstein

It would be amazing to keep the black and white from the film on stage.

A theater company in Dallas, back in the late 80's and early 90's, would perform spoofs of detective films from the 30's and 40's completely in grey - except for the red in their mouths when they screamed...

re: Young Frankenstein

Didn't "City of Angels" use black and white efects for the film noir part of the show?

Also I am thrilled that Brian has been picked. Mannered Broderick would have been awful.

NLS -- I think you mean Cloris Leachman as Frau Blucher :)

No, I was just naming who I would like to play the parts. All of my prayers have been answerd for the show so far!

When is the workshop? Is it open to the public?

re: Young Frankenstein

This will be amazing if they all stay beyond the workshop. *keeps fingers crossed for d'Arcy*

And apparently, Marc Kudisch graduated from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. That's where I live, and I JUST found out. It made me happy, haha.

re: Young Frankenstein

I'm still on the Dr. Frankenstein as Drew Sarich bandwagon. Not that I don't like Brian, d'Arcy James, or anything. Just that i feel its about time Drew starred on Broadway. Worse come to worse, I'll see it for Shuler as the Monster. kool and somewhat related to BDJ Shuler story. I was stagedooring Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (before BDJ arrived) and saw Shuler passing by. I casually mentioned I love his portrayal in Van Helsing. Igto a big "Thank you" and a pat on the shoulder.

re: Young Frankenstein

I must say that I LOVE the way this cast is turning out! The only one I don't agree with is Sutton Foster. I think she is overated and while I think she is perfect for those 1920's musicals, I don't think she is right for this role. Maybe someone more like Sherie Renee Scott?

Or Cady Huffman?
