There's a billboard up next to the Palace Theater, as well.
"For example, if I should paint my fingernails green - and it just so happens I do paint them green. Well, if anyone should ask me why, I say: 'I think it's pretty!'"

Thanks a lot Ben. The first 3 are clearly the entrance to the Hilton on 42nd Street, and the last 2 are the 43rd Street side of the theatre.

No problem, thanks for posting!

This kind of makes me miss Peter Boyle.

And watch the video of the cast.

Looks like it could be bigger. There's a lot of empty sign in that first one.
It's just a message board. Let's not take it too seriously.

I was thinking that too Born. The front marquee is small in proportion to the actual frame. But yeah, clearly Mel wanted to get these up early so that the summer tourists would see it and want to buy tickets.

I really don't like that logo.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I'm probably wrong...but considering it's going up so early, maybe it's not the real/final marquee?

ETA: I liked the back door one better too. And for Pirate Queen's logo.

Yankeefan, you can actually see the people installing the front marquee in the photo soooooo it's pretty recent. re: Young Frankenstein's marquees already up!

They went up this morning. You can see the crane in the first picture. I saw them putting it up on the way back from Broadway in Bryant Park.

That's probably the case. If it IS the final, I don't think it's very impressive.

I walked by the Hilton about a week after Pirate Queen closed and was surprised to see every trace of it gone. All the posters, marquees and everything else were nowhere to be seen. Usually when a show closes some of the materials remain for a month or two. The fact that Young Frankenstein's marquees are already up explains this.

The grungy, high-quality detail of that photograph mesmerizes me.

I knew something was up when I was walking to work today!

I was late and didn't have the time to stop and explore what was on the truck holding that sign ...

I actually thought that the front marquee would basically look like the one in back and just be The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein.

I was actually thinking about when the marquee was going to go up the other day when I went in to see Curtains. I remember walking by the Hilton and seeing that all The Pirate Queen stuff down.
