I thought it was a lot of fun. Very entertaining, especially if your a fan of the movie. Not perfect, of course, but funny enjoyable at least.

While I didn't enjoy the girl playing Inga, the rest of the show made up for it. I saw it last week in St. Louis and loved it! Definitely worth seeing.
YES!!!
I loved the Broadway version (saw it twice) and I understand the touring production is even better. I hope it makes its way to London eventually.
I saw it on Broadway, and although not perfect (as has been mentioned) I really enjoyed it. Never understood the beating it took on these boards. If it was coming to my town I would definitely see it again.

I will most likely see it on June 15th in Denver.

I saw it 4x, and was lucky enough to see it with my dad and my brother. They are far from musical-theatre-lovers and they LOVED it.
I saw it with the original Broadway cast and, like everyone else said, it's far from perfect. But if you go into it just wanting to have fun, it's worth seeing.
I am seeing it tonight. Does anyone know what changes were made for the tour, if any?
I can't wait for it to make it's way to town. Saw it twice on B'Way. I love the show. It's not high-concept art of course, but it is an enjoyable night at the theater.

minicko88 -- I hope you got to see it in Houston because if you're waiting for July 2nd, you will be very upset. It ended last weekend here (Houston).
For the original poster -- I enjoyed it very much as well. As several people have mentioned, it's not high art. But it's a lot of fun.

SORRY! I meant June 2nd... And yes I did see it... It may have been better than the broadway production!
What are all of you guys smoking? This is THE worst musical I have ever seen, out of maybe forty. The general consensus on this board a few years ago was that it was terrible.
I mean, to each his own, but the entire show relies on the audience going "OH! Haha! He's ABOUT TO SAY THAT THING HE SAID IN THE MOVIE! ISN'T THAT GREAT?", or, "OMFG, THAT THING THAT HAPPENED IN THE MOVIE IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN! I SHOULD APPLAUD THIS IN ADVANCE!", or, "WOW! THIS IS JUST LIKE WATCHING THE MOVIE! ONLY LOUDER AND IN HIDEOUS COLOR AND WITHOUT ANY SUBTLETY AND TEN TIMES AS EXPENSIVE TO WATCH."
My friend said that one of the best parts is was when the castle tremors. Do they do it on the tour?
Well that argument is made about The Producers, Spamalot, and anything else that is derived from a comic movie...
*yawn*
Stale.
You're entitled to your opinion, but "general consensus" is bullsh*t. "General Consensus" is a dangerous thing. Look at most political elections.

Wait, what were the castle tremors that I obviously missed when I saw it at the Hilton?
dont be silly =)....the show didn't RELY on all that rediculous stuff you mentioned. there's plenty of other stuff that was added to make it a broadway show and not just a stage version of the show....for example, more dialouge was added, more jokes were added, characters were added, characters were taken out, music was added, dancing was added.....the audiance lapped up what they saw. i'd never even seen the movie, didnt know it was a movie tbh, until i saw it for sale, and i bought it at the intermission, thinking omg cant wait to see the original. i LOVED the show, Please Don't Touch Me, He Vas My Boyfriend, Transylvania Mania, Surprise, Puttin' On The Ritz and Deep Love...i was in awe at was i seen before me!...i had never seen the film and i got all the jokes all the puns etc that were used in the show. Puttin on the Ritz i now find funnier to look back on after seeing the film!
If you stand by what you say, and i suppose you will, then almost every jukebox musical and film to stage, book to stage musical is the same then? they rely on the audiance going "omg this is the scene in the movie that...blah blah blah!!" or "omg this happened in the book!!" or "omg my favourite song but with emotion!"
....its ashame you think like that.

Well...yeah. Some of those musicals turn out to be quite good in their own right, but the whole reason people go at first is to see that scene/hear that song that they love so much. It's the hook, and it's the reason why producers continue to adapt recognizable source material into Broadway musicals.

Young Frankenstein was very good... don't listen to those who say its just a walking punchline... the new jokes added in with the old are very humorous! Bart is still top notch and the songs were great! I love this musical, and I am sorry that not everyone enjoyed it... It is your loss
I saw it tonight, (Actually last night) and will post my review.
Mel Brooks' ego and bad producing (the producing foibles of this production ought to be studied) led to the demise of this otherwise harmless and well-crafted show.
It's actually better than The Producers. I'd go see it again.
