I just saw "August: Osage County" last night, and I was blown away by the entire production--the cast, the acting, the direction, the script, etc. It is by far the BEST show on Broadway right now!
So I got to thinking...who would you pick to replace the amazing talent that is currently in the show?
Here are some of my ideas...
Violet...ELAINE STRITCH (how fabulous would that be?)
Mattie Fae...Mary Testa
Ivy...Laura Benanti
Barbara...I have a few ideas, but can't put a finger on any.
Alright, help me out here!

I know it would be like just putting another Steppenwolf in...but Laurie Metclaf would make a really good Barbara.

Posted: 3/20/08 at 5:12pmUh, hello, that role (Violet) is totally Judy Davis' if they make a movie. You didn't notice the actress who plays her looks a lot like Davis? And acts like her? It's such a Davis character!

Elaine Stritch would make a horrendous Violet.
I don't think you could get much better than the current cast, although I would love to see Kate Burton take on Amy Morton's role at some point.
