"Guys. You can't suggest Heidi for EVERY part. Elphaba? Seriously?"

Actually, I can't say that I wouldn't be interested in hearing Heidi rock "Defying Gravity".

PASSION:

Clara: Laura Benanti
Fosca: Love to see like Claire Danes or Kate Winslet. Or, Martha Plimpton? It seems her voice sits lower. Honestly, I just want whomever I cast in this little dream of mine to act the hell out of it.
Giorgio: I wouldn't mind seeing what Brian D'Arcy James did with the part, but my dream production would have to happen soon for that to work.
Some people paint, some people sew, I meddle.

re: Your Dream Cast for a Show

Tanz der Vampire (in a revamped English version closer to the German original)

In order of appearance
Alfred.......Daniel Radcliffe
Abronsius....Gary Beach
Chagal.......Billy Crystal
Magda........Emmy Rossum
Rebecca......Carol Kane
Sarah........Anne Hathaway
Krolock......Hugh Jackman
Koukol.......Andy Serkis
Herbert......Neil Patrick Harris

Justification
RADCLIFFE: Okay, so he's not the strongest singer in the world. The acting will for the most part carry him through this one, and the role is so right for his type that it's unreal.

BEACH: Okay, this is a little different from both Rene Auberjonois in DOTV and the conventional "Albert Einstein sprinkled with snow" types that the German version has always cast, in homage to Polanski's film. A) I wanted to see something different done with Abronsius, and B) who plays a pompous stuffed-shirt idiot better than Gary Beach?

CRYSTAL & KANE: I'm not gonna lie, I just wanted to see them together in something other than The Princess Bride, and it helps that they would play the shit out of these parts, especially with the longer Brechtian Act Two number in the crypt.

ROSSUM: Generic pretty lady with semi-decent voice.

HATHAWAY: Oh come on, this is the obvious heroine type, and everyone else in this thread has used her to their own ends.

JACKMAN: The best decision possible. He has excellent "crossover appeal" (having had a successful film and stage career, so would attract both types of audiences) which would be good for ticket sales, has a pretty strong legitimate singing voice, can do his own dancing (as proven in both The Boy from Oz and Oklahoma!), and has great personal "presence" as an actor and can play both the "darker" and "lighter" aspects of Krolock's personality. In addition, he looks pretty damn sexy with long, flowing hair (Van Helsing, etc.).

SERKIS: Well, come on, what was I gonna do, stiff Ken Jennings with the horror movie hunchback version of Tobias? Let's cast this guy with someone who looks like he stepped out of a horror film.

HARRIS: All the criticism of Herbert as a stereotypical homosexual would go out the window with Harris' slightly menacing, very "straight" portrayal of a predator who happens to bite men's necks exclusively. You'll feel more frightened for Alfred than busy holding back a groan over Herbert.

re: Your Dream Cast for a Show

Looking back on this thread, it's interesting that Bernadette Peters and Leigh Ann Larkin were suggested for Desiree and Petra. They were both stellar in those roles, IMO.
