Your One Song

Out of every song ever in a Broadway/Off Broadway musical which ONE would you pick as your favorite? I think I would say Rose's Turn because every time I listen to it I get so excited and it reminds me why I love theater!
Baby, dream your dream Close your eyes and try it!

For some reason, the song that immediately popped into my head was "Suddenly, Seymour" from LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Don't ask why. It just did.

While Miss Saigon is my favorite musical.... ONE SONG GLORY is the song that I kind of view as my own. It has a view like mine, and it reminds me of what I want to accomplish.

re: Your One Song

If I were to choose JUST ONE song, (Keep in mind, that this is almost impossible) that would have to be
"ANOTHER HUNDRED PEOPLE" from Company.
Not only is it fun to sing, but the music, and lyrics, are incredibly genius.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

"Facade" from Jekyll and Hyde. No song speaks truer about society.
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel

What You Own followed VERY closely by "What Do You Do.../It Sucks to be Me" (although the latter is the story of my life)
"During this performance, please feel free to let your cell phones and pagers ring willy-nilly. However, do remember that there are heavily-armed knights on stage and you might well be dragged up and impaled." (Pre-curtain announcement at the new Broadway musical Monty Python's Spamalot)

One song....that's a tough one. The cheesy answer is Broadway Baby. It speaks of the plight of the actress.

I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

I have to say The Lady's who Lunch. Yes, it does top a little priest but it does by a tenth of a point. The lyrics have such meaning to them about life and about what you have choosen to be. Sondheim's best song.
