My vote is for Fun Home. A film adaptation could utilize the drawings in a creative way. I would love to see it with the music but the story is so strong she could probably write a very powerful nonmusical script as well. So many possibilities.
House of Blue Leaves
The Visit
All of Tennessee Williams's plays
The Flick
Circle Mirror Transformation
The Aliens (w/ Chris Pratt)
Thinking about hit Off-Broadway plays from the last few years, 4000 Miles stands out to me as obvious HBO movie material.
Broadway Legend Joined: 9/1/14
I can't imagine any of Annie Baker's plays effectively translating to film.
DISGRACED (Dream cast: Aasif Mandvi, January Jones, Josh Radnor, Audra McDonald and Danny Ashok)
OTHER DESERT CITIES (with Stockard Channing)
THE MOTHERF*CKER WITH THE HAT (with the entire original cast)
33 VARIATIONS (with Jane Fonda)
I just want HBO to film the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime and air it. I don't want an adaption just filmed version of the Broadway or even west end production.
THE HEIRESS with Jessica Chastain
I think Dogfight could be wonderful. I would also love it if Showtime made a movie version of Heathers (similar to what they did with Reefer Madness).
The original production in the round of Curious Incident.. was filmed. I have seen it and it is wonderful.
