I was just thinking when I saw Trailer Park the other day, how much I'd love to see Orfeh sing Take Me or Leave Me somewhere!! (Although I doubt I'll ever get to.)
What other Rent songs would you like to hear someone like that who would probably never be in the show sing? Post away!
I personally think they should do RENT: All Grown Up. That way, lots of my favorite people could be in it.
Mark would have given up filmmaking in order to become a financial advisor, so he will of course be played by Denis O'Hare. Roger will still be a struggling rock star, only a significantly older one who, discovering he is beginning to bald, will ahve shaved his entire head. The winner of a mud wrestle between Michael Cerveris and Marc Kudisch (which will be available on DVD, by the way) gets to play him.
Maureen will be played by Bernadette Peters, who will a Tony for her stunning rendition of Maureen's performance art song 'Over the Hill.' Maureen by this time will have left Joanne for Patti LuPone, who will be played by Liza Minnelli.
By this time Mimi and Collins will both be dead, but never fear, there will be several heaven sequences. Only in this heaven, people age backwards, so Collins, Mimi, and Angel will be played by little kids who will run over from the New Amsterdam once their scenes in The Lion King are finished.
Did I forget anyone? Benny. Benny will not be appearing in RENT: All Grown Up. His part will be replaced by two wise cracking Jews, Bernie and Art, played by Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. They will show up periodically to vex Roger about still not having a real job, vex Mark about still not having a real girlfriend, and vex Bernadette Peters about still not having a real nose.
The production will be directed by Joe Mantello, who will add a few group shower scenes... you know, for fun. Music and lyrics will be by Stephen Schwartz.
Oh my god. Orfeh and Shoshana singing "Take Me..." would be amazing. I wonder why neither of them has ever played Maureen on Broadway! I haven't seen a thrilling Maureen since Sherie Scott (a close second to Idina) and that was like eight years ago. Come on Bernie Telsey, put some A-listers in the part! AND I DON'T MEAN JESSICA SIMPSON!!!
please say jessica simpson was a joke. please say that's not going to happen. i'll cry if its true.
funnyyyy jeje. ive always been fond of alexi darling. what happens to her in this production? or who does she get replaced by?
sticking to the orig. post, i'd reaaally like to see the guy who sings in dream theater play roger. i just LOVE his voice. in fact, i'd really like to see some of the major rock guys (the good singers) rev it up in a really rock musical of some sort.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...
