and don't you for ONE second forget that the reason you are "free" to say whats on your mind is because of people who sacrificed their lives for that freedom.

I didn't find Zero Dark Thirty to be the propaganda piece others here did- in fact, I thought it took great care to not glamorize anything it depicted, even the killing of Bin Laden, and it ends on such an ambiguous note with Chastain's ride in the plane.

(Granted, I have not seen the film since its release).

That being said, nothing about the film "sings" to me.

Funnily enough I only finally watched this a few weeks ago.

I don't think it was propaganda in the slightest. In fact when it was all over the only real feeling the film puts across is just how senseless and pointless the whole situation is.

There's a sense of immense loss and pain on both sides and no one comes out looking any better than the other.

It's stupid people playing stupid games and there will never be any 'winners' on either side except weapons makers and the people profiting off others misery.

Ya'll are totally getting trolled with this thread.

By the way, that war was a joke. Thank you to those of you that tried to do some sort of good over there, but you never should've been put in that situation. America loves to cause wars and then send our sons over to die in them. It's a strange obsession that really mirrors our violence loving culture.

The only war that could be made into a musical is the Korean War - probably because (1) it is now so historically remote, and (2) MASH has already found something other than politics and death during wartime to laugh about.
