a show that is (mostly) "yours"?

i have a friend coming to visit from Texas and i want try to make her less of a tourist despite her innate tendencies to revel in tourism. she requested to see all the big names, you know, stuff people hear about when they're new to theater/musicals...but i want to take her to something that's hot hyped but feels like a discovery of sorts. i don't want to take any real risks since she's only in town for a few days and i thought the best way to convey what i mean is by the feeling you get when you see something great that could be up and coming or just not well known. something that's "yours" in a way and gets its primary publicity from word of mouth. any suggestions?

Measure For Pleasure at The Public Theatre is very funny, ribald and bawdy. Right now it is in preview, but opens soon.
Nota bene: if this friend of yours is easily embarrassed by sexual innuendo (and out the other--sorry) and double and triple entendres, then this may not be for them. It isn't 'dirty' per se, but it is chock full of, shall we say, hijinks and not for the prudish.
However the 70+ year old couple who were sitting next to me last Sunday afternoon had as grand a time as I did.
