I read on playbill that Adam Guettel said his next musical would have sword fighting and be adventurous. Does anyone know any rumors about what this project could be?
My guess is Princess Bride...and brilliant idea it is...too bad I also thought of it a while ago. Somthing tells me Adam will get the rights over me, and deservedly so :)

I would absolutely love if The Princess Bride became a musical. Excellent movie, even better than the book.
god, i can't even imagine if it were Princess Bride. That would be awesome.
Or PIrates of the Caribbean? BAD IDEA.
HAHA...and that's how rumors get started :0)
I'm excited for Adam's next project! Hopefully next time he won't be in a situation where his show is on a limited engagement!
Did he seem a little drunk accepting his Tony last night??????
DRUNK? Maybe on the win? And perhaps a cocktail or two before to calm the nerves...but drunk? nah!

Well, perhaps you're unaware of last year's NYTimes spread on Guettel about his bout with alcoholism . . .
Haha he wasn't really drunk though. Supposedly he's kicked this particular habit.
Legal reasons?? Hmm. My hopes would be a new score and production of PETER PAN.
His next project should be a soundtrack for some Douglas Sirk style movie. Oh, wait - he already did that and passed it off as a "Broadway musical".
As soon as I read the Playbill article I thought PRINCESS BRIDE! I would doubt it would be ANOTHER Peter Pan score - there are already enough PP scores that aren't known - why write another one now? I LOVE the idea of a Princess Bride score by Guettel - hope that's it!
And wait...didn't Mary Rogers, his mother, even write a Peter Pan score...i doubt he would do that

And isn't Peter Pan about to go into the public domain? I actually thought of the PRINCESS BRIDE too, though I have to say as logical as that is for musicalizing, I don't really see Guettel doing the score. Seems more like Aherty and Flaherty...
Guettel's score deservedly won last night so Im anxious to see his next work (Princess Bride would be great!)
Perhaps a Robert Louis Stevenson, like Treasure Island?
