Congrats! Now come back and do something on broadway!!
He should be the next Wizard in Wicked! Does he sing?
:-P
Anybody who has won an Oscar should not be playing the wizard. Well, whoops that has already happened.

He'd be a great Wizard, but I don't think he'd do it.
Maybe he'd do Grumpy Old Men when it comes to broadway?
Becoz, Ian McKellen was nominated for playing a wizard.

He does sing - I've heard him on some recordings of sketches from Second City back in the early 1960's.
Me too - I've heard him singing "Hush, Little Baby." I think he actually recorded some songs earlier in his career.

Now here is a question. Why would Alan Arkin, arguably a legendary actor, debase himself by going into, of all shows, Wicked?
Alan Arkin was a folksinger in the 50s.
and according to word on the red carpet, not too pleasant to the press.

He was nice to Ryan Seacrest on the E! red carpet before the show.
...okay?
The original Broadway Wizard was Oscar winner (for Best Supporting Actor in 1972's CABARET): Joel Grey.
I, for one, am thrilled that he was finally honored, and for such a marvelous performance as Little Miss Sunshine, too. I think he's long paid his dues and was deserving of that Oscar. It's sad they didn't see fit to honor Peter O'Toole as well.
However, I also agree that he needs to come back to Broadway, but why should he necessarily step into a role? There must be something new or a revival of something he could do. I'm sure he's perfectly happy making movies, though. He hasn't worked onstage for a long time, as far as I know.
I'll never forget the first time I saw Wait Until Dark. They actually turned off the exit lights so that last scene, where he stalks Audrey Hepburn was really dark. It was really scary, but then, I was about 15 when I saw it.
