Nice writing, insomniak. I'm gonna put my two cents in, k?
Am I the only one who didn't like Over the Moon? For me, it just wasn't funny and actually looked kinda stupid. I laughed so hard at the stage production, so this was really disappointing. As for the TVs and fancy stage/set-- How could they afford all that stuff if they're starving artists?
Overall, I was really satisfied by the film-- not blown away but not disappointed either. Yes, there were some moments that just looked silly, but as a whole it came out quite well.
Side note: I really missed all the cut songs and sung dialogue. ;_;

This is a beautiful post. Thank you. Hopefully it will open the eyes of some of the immature teenagers on this site to stop posting ridiculous posts just to get attention.

All I can say is Amen.
Wonderful post. And one of the few of the plethora of Rent-threads cropping up now that I'll actually stop to read with detail. It's nice to read a post that actually has something *important* to SAY.

With all the crap (some positive, some negative) that's being posted right now, your review was a breath of fresh air.

In case you didn't see it, Nia, Adam's quote in Life Magazine today relates directly to your review:
"When I was doing the play, it was hard for me to understand why people reacted so strongly to it... Now I know that when you watch it, whatever your individual issues are, you feel like a little bit of something has been lifted off your shoulders. And that's so rare."

Awesome, awesome review! You have some really great insight into the movie... ((hug!))
Emcee, I love your avatar by the way, and I also thought that Roger's trip to the Life Support meeting was a really nice addition. That made me cry...
