hi
i have an audition for Evita tomorrow for ensemble
they've asked me to prepare 2 contrasting songs to show range, that are appropriate to the style of the show.
i am a strong soprano by the way
does anyone have any suggestions of what songs i should do?

THANKS!!!

You're auditioning for a top notch professional production and you're asking for song suggestions, from complete strangers on a message board, the DAY before?

Yea. Good luck with that.

As usual, you took the words right out of my mouth Colleen :)

well i don't think u realise....as u probablly don't have an agent, a professional performer doesn't know of an audition untill the last minute-that's why they call it a hard business.....
the casting director doesn't publish the dates untill the the last minute

so thanks to the first person who replied with suggestions-i really appreciate it!

Yes, in that situation, it's usually best to stick with repertoire you're comfortable with and not try and pick up suggestions for new pieces that you're never going to learn and appropriately internalize in 24 hours.

I'm sorry but having an agent vs not having an agent isn't the issue here. Besides there's no way of you knowing who's got one and who doesn't. Regardless of any of that I'm not sure it's wise to come to a random message board for suggestions. I would go to a voice coach or a friend in the business for trusted opinions. Otherwise you get suggestions like Think of Me. Do not sing that song unless you sing it VERY well. It's a boring song and you can't really show any acting chops you might have. I think it's overdone also. There are certain songs you just don't sing. Also musically Evita is NOTHING like Phantom(even though they're written by Webber). I would go with style of show rather than composer.
