OOh, I'm excited! Now I'll finally have a legal one!! Is this just... like, when they recorded the 11 songs, the actually recorded the entire show, but now they've decided to release the rest?

This is kinda strange since I was under the impression it was never "fully" recorded.
They had just about finished the instrumental tracks when the show and the album were halted.
And the sight says the "cast" is to be announced.... hmmm.

The album is legit, fear not. It will be out soon.

It will feature a new cast, and will not be a recording of either the LA or NY productions. It's a studio cast recording of the entire score.

yeah. It's purely a studio cast....


why thep? I am more than certain that other people can sing the score. In some cases, I am sure that other people can sing the score FAR better... and perhaps some people won't chew the scenery (or recording studio) to shreds during the final confessional scene...

but why would the original ny cast be more derving of this than anyone else several years after the fact... especially more deserving than the la cast?

Several, perhaps. Some of them, no way in hell. One "high profile" person from the cast is even 100% against what the authors want the role to be.

So, by your logic, original production cast members or the "best" cast members from former productions deserve first dibs at the role in future version produced by different people?

When I spoke to Damon in New York after a performance of the show, he said that he at some point wanted a full recording of the show. I hope this is really it.
