Since you cant spell Beetlejuice, I'd say Tootsie is your better bet ! ![]()
Seriously though, reports from out of town still point to Tootsie.

I saw Beetlejuice in DC and wasn't impressed and definitely was not impressed with Sophia Caruso, but I understand it has been extensively retooled for Broadway.
Tootsie has received much better word of mouth from it's out of town tryout.
But, if I was you, I would base my decision on which of those two movies did you enjoy more? They are different types of comedies. I was a fan of both movies, but loved Tootsie more.

Having seen both, TOOTSIE is the one. Read the reviews from out of town too for some more background on this answer and the shows if you can. Enjoy!

Having seen both out of town, I would go with Beetlejuice. While Tootsie is certainly fun, it's just a good example of old fashioned musical comedy. I thought Beetlejuice was hysterical and had the audience from the very start. Plus the physical production is a total marvel. We haven't seen a show look like this in a very long time.

One vote for Tootsie. I've seen both out of town too. You'll laugh in both shows. In Beetlejuice, it's like oh there's that very familiar character/scene/line from the movie, I know that one, haha, applause! To be fair, for someone who hadn't seen the movie - yes I was living under a rock, it was a nice rock - I found the Day-O scene hilarious. In Tootsie, it's genuinely funny, gut laughing. I still giggle thinking about some of those scenes. I can't wait to go back and see what they've improved. On top of that, Tootsie has a little more heart.

I've only seen Beetlejuice but I would not recommend it, for what it's worth.

Unless you're showing up two days after one of them open, why not wait and see what the word is based on their Broadway versions, rather than their out of town tryouts?
