Defying Gravity
I don't think "Defying Gravity" constitutes and 11 O'Clock number. I think the Wicked equivalent would be "No Good Deed". "Defying Gravity" is more under the category of great Act One Finales.

You're asking ME????????
"Hello, Dolly" has to be one of the BEST 11 o' Clock numbers ever! Rose's Turn is also grand.
Gimme Gimme, although a great song, just seems to lack the extra "umph" to be one of the greats.
"The Grass is Always Greener" from WOMAN OF THE YEAR
"Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat" from GUYS AND DOLLS
"Rose's Turn" from GYPSY
"Being Alive" from COMPANY
"The Miller's Son" from A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC
"The Lady is a Tramp" from BABES IN ARMS
"Oklahoma" from OKLAHOMA!
"Nowadays" from CHICAGO
"Brush Up Your Shakespeare" from KISS ME, KATE
"One Night Only" from DREAMGIRLS
No Good Deed is Wicked 11 o'clock number. Defying Gravity is what they call an "Act Two Closer". (Just like how we call Elphaba's make-up "green".)
My favorites are in Bat Boy, Caroline or Change, Urinetown, and Guys & Dolls.
My least favorite is in The Producers. (Love you Nathan, but it's predictable crap)
Apology to a Cow is an amazing 11 o'clock number, as is Last Midnight from Into the Woods. Would The Ladies Who Lunch or Being Alive be the 11 o'clock number from Company? Both are great.
"Last Midnight" How could I forget!!
"For You" is also a good one from SEUSSICAL. I actually enjoyed this more than Gimme Gimme.
Oh my, URINETOWN too!
Apology to a Cow is not an 11 o'clock number. It's in the first act.
For 11 o'clock numbers, Rose's Turn has to be the best, hands down.

Yes, Apology to a Cow is in the second act, right before I Imagine You're Upset and Hold Me, Bat Boy Reprise. Those two are the last songs.
Double Post. What would the 11 o'clock number from Urinetown be? Updated On: 7/1/04 at 07:49 PM
I'll take your comment as temporary amnesia Mister Matt.

to justify my mention of betrayed its my personal favorite to sing- nothing like comedic melodrama
also i forgot my other fav. from a role i did a ameture reading of- those were the good old days- damn yankees
We need an 11 o'clock number CD.
I don't think 'Run Freedom Run' is Urinetown's 11 o'clock number, it's too close to the beginning of Act II and doesn't do what an 11 o'clock number does (push the show toward the conclusion, etc.)
Don't wanna be post-patrol here, but a lot of people are naming songs that aren't anywhere near 11 o'clock numbers. Maybe we should clearly define an 11 o'clock number before preceeding?
