i really like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels overture. It really gets me in the mood and really excited. Everytime I hear it, I'm at the edge of my seat.
<--- the set of A Midsummer Night's Dream that I was assistant stage manager for during the 2007 season at the STNJ outdoor stage.
-Dre- You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel.

It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known.

The Phantom overture gives me goosebumps. It's so creepy, but I love it!

I don't know if it's the best, but one of my favorites has always been the Overture from Merrily We Roll Along.

Search. I think during my whole time on BWW. I've seen atleast 8-10 threads of this.

Gypsy. I love the trumpet solo, too.

DRS has a great overture. I also really enjoy the ones from Sweet Charity and Chicago. Once Upon a Matress has a nice overture but it is a bit too long.

I'm not a huge fan of Phantom, but it does have a gorgeous, creepy overture. I love that organ.
Chicago is classic, as well.

I've always really loved the entire Producers overture on the cast album. I also like the overtures for Phantom, DRS, La Cage Aux Folles, All Shook Up, and SpamAlot.

Can't say they're the best, but favorites are (in no particular order): My Fair Lady, Man of La Mancha, virtually anything by Jerry Herman, Phantom of the Opera (the organ IS great), and Gypsy. I also sort of regret the new trend of dispensing with one.

Gypsy, Merrily We Roll Along but I guess Candide's outclasses them all.

Candide, in my opinion, is the best. I love The Full Monty's oveture as well.
