"big deal" the musical

does anyone know anything about where i can find music to this musical? i've seen a video of the act I finale on youtube and i'm now obsessed with finding the music; if not the whole soundtrack then at least that piece of music called "beat me daddy eight to the bar." does anyone know anything? i even asked seth rudetsky and he sent me here! HELP!

Trey, I saw big deal years ago. If I recall, the music was all existing -- lots of tunes from the 30s 40s. Beat Me Daddy Eight to the Bar is a forties tune. I have a recording of The Andrews Sisters singing it. Perhaps this will give you a direction to hunt for the music for this song! best wishes

There is no soundtrack nor is there a cast album either. If you go to IBDB it has a listing of all the songs in the production. Also, there is a recording easily found of The Andrew Sisters performing the song. However, if you are looking for the instrumental version used in BIG DEAL the only way you can find it is if you can find someone with a live recording of it from a performance of BIG DEAL or FOSSE. Though it was never recorded (no Original Cast Recording was ever made), a bootleg video of the show does exist. This would be your only way of obtaining/hearing any music from Bob Fosse's final Broadway show BIG DEAL.

The dance number "Beat Me Daddy, Eight to the Bar" was indeed performed in FOSSE during it's pre-Broadway tour, but was taken out of the show during it's Los Angeles run. It was no longer in FOSSE when it arrived on Broadway.
