If it doesn't, it will be because you didn't believe and clap hard enough.

If it doesn't, it's because Fun Home was nominated for everything.

The only Tony I want for FN to contend for is Ensemble. But that's not a thing, so.

The Committee must not have read the missive from Mr. Weinstein with the Peter Pan expert.
(Heck, even Gigi got a nomination!)

I think that essay by the PETER PAN expert pissed them off even more than they already were.

Based on what I've seen from this board, this was never about the musical itself. It was about other things.
Was a beautiful show IMO and sorry to see no one who is in the show recognized for their hard work because of other issues surrounding the musical.
This had an albatross around its neck before it even opened to previews.

IMO, the albatross it has around it's neck is a mediocre and forgettable score, ugly sets and being awash from top to bottom in third rate manipulative insulin-proof sticky sentimentality.
Granted it has one brilliant coup-de-theatre special effect in the second act and the combined drawing power of Mr Morrison and Mr Grammar fuelled by a mega-budget PR campaign to bring in the people. Otherwise it's a very flimsy and superficial piece of nonsense that had me wishing for one of the lead characters to push the accelerator for her trip to Neverland so that I could get the heck out of the theatre.

So those who hated it can go out tonight and celebrate it not getting any nods.
I will say though that if I'm one who doesn't like "sticky sentimentality" this would be the last show I'd go to in the first place.
At the end of the day, and despite it getting no Tony recognition, a good percentage of posters here (and others I've spoken with who saw it) don't agree and really liked it.
There's a second group who reference other things that really don't have much to do with the musical itself and appear to be more about the peripheral issues surrounding it.
Then there's a small group who are actually specific about what they didn't like about it, providing details about the show itself. That seems to be the minority though.
I still think some people had their opinions on this show before they even entered the theater. And nitpicked it because of that.
I've seen a lot of Broadway musicals. And the chasm between what I saw in this show and the disdain some people have for it is huge. Not everyone has to like it, but I'm surprised at how strongly people are going after it. It's not exactly a deep show, and expecting it to be that way and then judging it because it's not doesn't make sense.
Oh well, it didn't get any nods, so no worries.

There IS a TONY for Ensemble, presented later in the year, but FN ain't getting that either.

The show is a giant turd; a huge misfire; an embarrassing score; hideous sets;
vulgar, pandering script; shoddy direction; and mediocre performances.
The. End.
