I got a cat when I was working on a play. The play was about widows, and I was working for one of the widow's portrayers. I named the cat after the unseen character of my boss's dead husband, Murray Moskowitz. Murray always knew he was in trouble when he was yelled at using his full first and last name.

I wanted to name the cat I adopted this last summer Fiyero, but my family didn't go for it.

When I was in junior high I had fish named Magenta and Riff Raff. I personally couldn't tell them apart, but they were bright pink and they rocked.

There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

One of my dogs is named Whizzer from "Falsettoland."

His AKC registered name is "Do I Hear A Waltz?"

I used to have goldfish, and they were all named after the "Annie" orphans...I WAS 13!!!
