You can buy tickets at the box office for advance tickets!
I remember buying my Color Purple tickets at the box office for a show 9 months in advance.

Posted: 8/16/07 at 10:42pmIf the box office is convenient, it's cheaper because you avoid ticketmaster or telecharge fees. Note: if discounts are available through broadwaybox, you can use the code at the box office.

Charged me sixteen extra dollars for a single ticket. I've learned my lesson, and Ticketmaster will pay one day...
On-topic: I believe anything that has become available can be bought at the box office on any given day.

Posted: 8/17/07 at 6:42amIts the good old fasioned traditional way! I hate paying by card on line or phone (on the rare occasion i do pay!) the booking fee s are rip offs. The box office will sell seats as far in advance as the shows booking period or closeing date.

Posted: 8/17/07 at 10:15amI definitely go to the box office whenever possible. SOOOO much easier. (The only time it wasn't was with the mean red haired woman at the Lunt who insisted that there WERE no mexx seats left for the rest of Beauty's run yet surprise surprise, what did I find on ticketmaster? Mmmhmm. Some tickets.)

True-- If you have the option to go to the b.o. for advance tix, then that's a great way to avoid all the fees, etc.
But if you don't live in NYC, then you're stuck with either advance tix with fees, or getting tix when you get to town and hoping that they're available (or not horrible rear orch or balcony seats).

I actually told her about those tickets (and their specific seat-numbers) and she gave them to me!
