why don't they?

do they dont want to see their fans or sign autographs? i just don't get it.

at the stage door for DRS, Norbert came out of the stage door with open arms and a cap-less Sharpie ready to sign anything, but the security guard said that Sherie Rene Scott doesn't exit out the stage door and she goes out another way... why would she?

Because sometimes they *don't* want to see their fans, take pictures and sign autographs. For any one of a million reasons. Enough with thiiiiis.

Sherie just had a baby that she needs to get home to. Give her a break.

There's a lot of reasons behind this. One reason is just mainly based on introverted-ness. But in Sherie's case, I would think that it's something to do with her family. Due to her schedule, I don't know how often she really gets to see them, and even though it IS late, I'm sure she'd want to get back home.

Performers just might eb tired, and they just don't want to deal with their fans. There's a small section in the FAQ that sort of touches on this...but there's really no way to know unless you ask the performers themselves.

Because they have better things to do than scribble signatures on Playbills for a horde of strangers.

i know george hearn and carole shelley, as well a joel grey used to take an alternate exit in wicked but i think that was more to not be insulted, after all the average person at that stage door has no interest in seeing them, its all about the 2 leading ladies coming out. Which is depressing but it is how it is

How would you like it if you were leaving a long day at work and there were 100+ people outside asking you to smile, pose and sign things for them?

It can get taxing and I wouldn't want to do it everyday either. Most performers do it sometimes, just not every show.

I appreciate it when the actors take their time to sign and chat with the fans who appreciate their work, but at no point should we expect it.

Not to be mean, but I'd think fans who can't understand something like why an actor may not come out from the stagedoor would make the actor really sad. For me it would be depressing if I had a personal issue that prevented me from signing autographs for several hours, and people were mad at me and couldn't understand why. It's so great of them just to do it period.

Exactly, Derech. People do crazy, stupid things, and say horrible things, etc, etc, and THEN they wonder why actors can be wary of their fans.

Seriously, sometimes actors have to catch a plane or have an engagement. Sometimes, they aren't feeling well.

While I appreciate it when actors come out the stage door, their job is toentertain, not to sign autographs like a machine. That doens't mean they don't appreciate their fans at all, after doing a huge show on Bway, they must be exhausted. Most of them have families to get to.

One more thing, I HATE when ppl say "OMG HE or she DIDNT COME OUT OF STAGE DOOR! I HATE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!" It makes me want to throw up. And then when you tell this person it's okay, they were lucky seeing the show, they yell "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS TO ME!"

I mean who wants to say yes to someone that scary?

Ahhh this again?!?!

Sometimes they might not feel well at the end of the night.
Sometimes they might be meeting friends or family after work.
Sometimes they are just tired and want to go home and sleep.

It makes me angry when people (show attendees) get pissy over a performer NOT coming out a stage door and signing autographs or taking pictures. When did that become part of the job description?

If I had to count the number of times I've been disappointed, and if I ever really got truly upset about them, I'd be an awfully bitter b*tch. They aren't machines.

Exactly. And no one should get ANGRY. Neither Ewan, Jane, or Douglas came out from stage door that doesn't mean I hate them, and won't ever like them again. I hate ppl like that.

And as for Sherie, she came out when I was there and it was her anniversary. Her hubby was waiting off to the side and she was very gracious. So I don't know why some people don't come out. An anniversary seems like a good excuse to sneak out somewhere else.

P.S. Just because the guy at the stage door says someone has left, doesn't mean it's always true. Shhh.... re: bway stars that don't exit through the stage door

When I went to Taboo after the AWESOME SHOW Raul, Cary, and Jeffery came out through the stage door to sign Playbills and chat. They were very interesting to talk with, Cary just came to hang. I think they were all going somewhere together between shows.

Ewan MOrton did not come out becaseu he had to wash the make-up from his face and he was probably tired. Boy George did not come out afterward, which I thought was a bit rude.

After JCS Glenn carter exited through another door from the ford center, as did Christine Ebersole after 42 street...but the bad thing about Christine was that the security gaurd LIED to everyone there!!!!

After Seussical most of the cast came out and signed Playbills including Rosie O'Donnell...she is excellent weith her fans!

I hope she will do the same for Fiddler!

Bsrry humphries did not come out after Dame Enda Back with a Vengence..he was probably tired, as well as a very privatte person.

Many of the shows I have been to people have left through the stage door and have been more than willing to sign for fans and chat a little.

The cast of rocky hoor, some left through the main entrance others left through the 50th street side of the building. including Ana. I did get to meet her coming in to the show though she was extremely nice.

I don't think an actor HAS to sign.

But I give MAJOR credit to the big stars like - Brooke Shields, Christina Applegate, and John Lithgow - who glady sign every day.

It does dissapoint me when I hear that some B/C list Broadway performers are nasty to fans at the stage door. Because big names like the ones listed above - are always gracious and great with fans.

OH MY GOD RAUL ESPARZA HASN'T SIGNED AUTOGRAPHS IN LIKE.... TWO MONTHS. I mean, I go to the stage door EVERY day, and he never ever comes out! I hate him now, and I just refuse to be a fan of his anymore. Geez, what a bitch. I mean, doesn't he love me and know that I'm there every day?!?!

/end demonstration, I'm totally kidding.

And Raúl DID do the stage door thing on Friday night. Snaps to him.

Adam Pascal rarely signed at Aida
Tim Curry doesn't sign after matinees of Spamalot
Idina Menzel went out the 50th street stage door during her last few months of Wicked

So I'm not the only one, Bobby! Aren't they aware of the fact that I'm like totally in love with them?

(maybe it's because I wanted his chest hair.)

Yankeefan, that's not true (about Adam).
