re: celia keenan bolger???!

I just saw that Tony nominee lunch clip and Celia did make a comment about not being able to be compared to someone with the looks like Kelli O'hara......awwwwww

Whatever, the speculation is, I think the biggest reason was the voice, it obviously the most important quality, and if Kelli's voice was working better with this music then I can easily see why they would go with her......

re: celia keenan bolger???!

Amazing video thx for sharing...Celia's voice was extremely impressive, but i think I may prefer Kelli...I must say it made me appreciate Matt Morrison alot more though, that other guy didn't really nail the higher notes like matt does so effortlessly
So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space

I liked that video... quite interesting... I already knew that Celia had been in it, but I didn't know about Kelli having a different part... she looked sort of... odd...

re: celia keenan bolger???!

yes the wig kelli wore in chicago was much better (or if it was the same wig, it was better styled.)

also, the chicago fabrizo (wayne wilcox who is now on gilmore girls) was MUCHMUCHMUCHMUCHMUCH better! he and celia were incredible together.

From hearing Celia sing the part, she did a pretty good, but just because of her singing style she was a bit harsher.

She is PERFECT for the role in Spelling Bee, so I think it all worked out just fine :0)

re: celia keenan bolger???!

Yes. I saw her in the Chicago mounting of Light and I thought she was wonderful. I have the recording and I remember the character being much more enjoyable. I thought of Clara as the lead and not the mother when I watched it. I thought O'hara was brilliant as Franca...I still remember the octet when she belted at the end and it was great. oh well. I guess things did work out best for the both.

Random question, but does anyone know why the double-hyphenated last name?

In the back of the Playbill, you can see that Adam Guettel thanks Celia Keenan-Bolger. So they're all still in good terms it seems. And didn't anyone see Celia's enthusiasm when presenting the Drama Desks for design to the team of Piazza? I think they did let Celia go because they wanted a more operatic sound, but I'm sure she was still great in the role. And it definitely worked out for the best for both ladies (and Sarah, too).

I hope Celia has improved a great deal over the last couple of years--I saw her Johanna in the Kennedy Center "Sweeney" and she was dreadful.
I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

Yes, loved her va-va-voom look. I guess she went with Erin on that.

Hey guys,
Celia was actually let go. Although her and Adam Guettel (the show's composer) are good friends, and he does thank her in the playbill, she was let go. They wanted a more glamorous Clara. And although I love Kellie O'hara, Celia looked pretty damn glamorous at the Tony's!:) Beautiful. She looked great at the Spelling Bee Opening Night Party as well. She had her hair the same, but wore a simple turquoise dress. Very tasteful. Haha, but Bill Finn wore sweatpants and a suit jacket! God I love that man!! haha

"Wayne wilcox who is now on gilmore girls"

I didn't even realize it was the same person! He's in the Rent movie too...

Damn! Realplayer won't play the video and I don't know why! That's disappointing. I really want to hear Celia as Clara and Kelli as Franca.

Celia

How old is she?????? Also, I always thought that her last names were her maiden and married last names(Like Sarah U.B. in Piazza), however I now know that she is not married and that they are her parents......

I had lunch with my uncle a few days ago, and it turns out that he did shows with Celia when she was a kid... "The Music Man" and "West Side Story" back in Detroit... that was pretty sweet to find out... lol
