My mom was '63. Golden Age.
As for myself
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Once on This Island
Peter Pan
Prelude to a Kiss
Fiddler on the Roof
Not as many as '63.

Well...Mom was '45...that's good..gives me "If I Loved You" from Carousel.
I'm 71...not such great choices....either "I Don't Know How to Love Him' from JCS..but not such a great soprano song.....or "Broadway Baby" from Follies.

My mom's song would be Can This Be Love from the show Fine and Dandy (1930). Lyrics by Paul James. Music by Kay Swift.
My song would be You've Got Possibilities from the show It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman (1966). Lyrics by Lee Adams. Music by Charles Strouse.

My mom was born in 1951, so how about I give her some "Guys and Dolls" since (when I was little) she was always walking around singing, "Bushell and a Peck."
or something from "The King and I" if we're strictly going with shows that opened the year our Mothers were born.
As or me, I was born in 1982. Yes, it was the year of Cats, but I think I would prefer a little "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls. :) Even though Dreamgirls opened in 1981, it was still around 1982 to win some Tonys.

Posted: 7/22/05 at 4:13pmWhat a great idea! My mother was born in 1949, so I could do "Soliloquy" from Carousel or "You've Got To Be Carefully Taught" from South Pacific. Of course, if we went with the year I was born, 1972, that would give me my choice of tunes from Company, Man of La Mancha, Grease, Promises, Promises, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Jesus Christ Superstar, 1776, On the Town, and even Two Gentlemen of Verona (just to name a few).

#61re: Momma's song
Posted: 7/22/05 at 5:31pmMy Mom is a former musical theatre performer who was on several national yours. For her I think I'd have to pick "Too Darn Hot" from KISS ME KATE which just barely made it in 1948.
