It's 2:05 and they haven't even opened the house yet. We've been told....technical difficulties.
And some flowers are cranky as hell about it. I suspect A8.

Lol, no, that was intermission! The show started about 2:20 or so.
Kristen made a joke with it which was cute.
Overall, I liked many things about the show, but didn't fall in love. There were a few people I couldn't hear well, particularly Cheno. I was in a box seat which, sadly, kept me from seeing a lot of Cheno and Andy Karl's bits.

At the show today. The house opened about 2:10 with the show going up at about 2:25. I was surprised at just how nasty some of the patrons were. I mean, there were little old ladies fanning themselves and acting as if it was the greatest indignity ever perpetuated! Lady, I am sorry that your beauty-shop helmet-hair is deflating, but they are just looking out for the safety of the actors when they are making sure everything onstage works properly. Okay, vent over.

Sorry folks had to experience today's delay...so glad I saw this show 3x and not one hitch! The first show we got the Peter understudy but he was awesome in the role, did not miss a beat. Although when I saw Peter in the 2nd and 3rd times he had the bravado that the understudy lacked and he obviously is Oscar Jaffe. My favorite show of this season!
Note: My orchestra seats gave me good sight lines to the stage and I can hear pretty much everything clearly. I' ve also listened to cast recording numerous times (both OBCR and revival cast) so I can anticipate what's coming up next
Just wanted to post my different perspective of the show!

I was at the matinee yesterday and thankfully there weren't any technical glitches like today, or else I would have missed my train back to DC.
I saw it for the first time during previews and Peter Gallagher was also out at that performance. I really liked him as Oscar yesterday although his voice cracked several times during the first act. Strange that it happened in his middle register as opposed to when he was singing higher notes. Overall the show was much tighter the second time around.
I absolutely loved this production and it was clearly my favorite of all the revivals that opened this season. Kristen's performance and the tapping porters made the show.
The smallness of the orchestra didn't bother me this time around. I was in the last row upstairs and the sound and view were both fine. I wish I could come back again, but I doubt that will happen before it closes.

When I saw this, last week, there was a technical difficulty right before Veronique and the show stopped for a few minutes. Peter talked to the audience while they fixed the issue

I saw it last week and unfortunately missed Kristin but her understudy was quite good. As for the show, I thought it was pretty dire and that Peter was horrible. I'm usually a fan of this type of show but I just couldn't get into it.

Which just goes to show that two people can see the same show and come up with the exact opposite reaction.
That's theater for ya.
I thought OTTC was fast-paced, witty, and the performances were outstanding from top to bottom.
The staging, sets and costumes were super, and the audience was with the show the whole time, responding favorably at every turn.
I fully agreed with the raves it got, and find the extreme opposite reactions that some have of it interesting.
But again, not every musical resonates with everyone. .
