Posted: 1/24/05 at 4:04pmI agree with you Priest. I saw Donna 5 times and when I went to see Brooke, I did not expect to get the same performance. Considering she got the reviews she did, I did however, think her performance would be enjoyable. The fact that she can't sing didn't bother me, I mean the role was written for Roz Russell, but she could not act. Throughout the show, I felt as if she really did not understand her character, and to me all of her songs were "wooden."

Her singing was pasable.
It was okay for this score.
But her voice cracked multiple times and I had a very hard time hearing her in '100 Easy Ways'
But her acting was high school theatre level at best.

Hah. Her voice never cracked when I saw her. She even got a little jazzy on some parts of "Swing", which she doesen't do on the cast recording. The audience just eats her up. She is very pleasing. I think she sings a hell of a lot better than Roz Russel (But I have mad respect for Roz, shes a legendary actress).
Oh, and Priest. Brooke brought the show up to 82& attendance. She kept the show in the 70% attendance area for a while. The show even grossed up to 700,000 dollars. I think Brooke sure did help out!

And I think I am insane for picking this instead of Gem , which, thanks to its closing, I can't see when I'm up there in Feb or March.
