You might want to talk with some of the people who work there to get an idea how they like working there before making a decision.

i ate at ellen's last year one night after seeing wicked.....it was a fun place to eat. i really dont know about all the stuff you're wondering though. good luck in new york.....you're a brave soul.
hey.....u should have at least five grand in ur checking account i would recommend....and they do make a lot of money at that diner.
But, they only hire if you have had serving experience...
Anywhere from 1,000 up to move, but that doesn't count getting the apartment. In that case, you will need First Month, last, and security, which could be about 2,000, depending.

You NEED serving experience.
If you audition have a Broadway ballad but also have a 1950's pop song prepared. Elvis, Patsy Cline, whatever.
I just auditioned and had no serving experience. Ah, well. Good luck.
Hmmm you should probably have a good amount of money, at LEAST enough for the next 3 months of rent, so you can work on getting a job or 2 or 3...
move to a poor part of the bronx or brooklyn...subway it into the city...that's your best bet...make sure you have a job first, and enough money for a few months rent...best of luck to you!...need a roommate...hehe

I don't know about the food, talent, or service at this place, but those posters of the various Miss Subways on the website are worth a look. They are wonderful.
if you are a good singer, i hope they hire you. i've been there twice, and they need a good singer

Gosh Turtle I think I've been there 4 times and I've always seen at least one performer that makes me think "We'll be seeing more of him (or her)." And I've never heard anyone there that made me say "Ugh! They shouldn't be performing in public." For a diner with singing waiters, I'd say the talent level is pretty strong.
Of course maybe I just enjoy seeing enthusiastic youngsters trying to get a break more than you do.
