Where exactly do you go for the ticket line? I know to enter the park at 81st, but then what?
Enter the park on Central Park West and 81st and just keep walking straight in. You will see the Delecorte on your left hand side. A round amphitheater. The line usually starts there and travels down the path heading north of the theater.
Okay- I have another question? I am reading my subway map- I am a bit confused!
So coming from Queens (E train) -how do I get to Central Park 81st ? (by Museum of Natural History?) bec. there's seems to be two E trains- one coming from Queens another from World Trade Center? The one from Queens looks like intercepts with the other E train on 50st ..So do I just stay on the E train and it will go uptown to 81st? no need to transfer? Thanks-j*
and here's the map to get to Delacorte- I marked it black-that's right, isn't it? there will be signs?

Hi Jay! You'll need to transfer at 59th street the uptown A, C, D or B. The E train doesn't continue of Central Park.
Get off at 79th street and walk North to the 81st street entrance. It's very easy to find the Theater!
Enjoy and good luck!
Thanks Tom!
I wont see the show this saturday but probably next saturday 8/16- my 1st choice depending on the availability & of course weather plus I wanna catch Jonathan Groff. My second choice is 8/23 and lastly 8/30. At least now - we only have to stay one night (saturday) vs. falling in line ~we need to stay there Friday night, so we can wake up early at 5am to get free tickets~ that's why i just decided to donate..at least we can leave Boston at noon Saturday- but we still have to be at CP by 6 pm to 7pm to pick up tickets. Hopefully as a summer supporter (now) I can get my reserved tickets. I am dying to see the show at Central Park! I dont think I would settle to see this on a Broadway Theater! I dont want to miss the chance to see this in a park besides I think I deserved it from losing BRIGADOON & NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT!

"loosing BRIGADOON & NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT!"
The E train doesn't stop at 59th St. From Queens, get off at 7th Ave and take the B uptown to 81st St.
Good luck ILuv2shop531! I hope you get tickets! I've read on other boards that if you get there before 9:30am, then you will probably get tickets. Get there as early as you can.
Enjoy the show when you see it Jay!
Just a little note:
I was walking around Central Park today checking out the line and looking around the outside of the theatre. I've never seen a more longer line in my life! It was crazy. A man who looked around 50 was walking around the theatre at about 12:45pm. Just as everybody was starting to pack up their things to get ready to go toward the box office, this man got in line. He was in line for about 5 seconds before these two ladies, who were four people in front of him, realized he had cut in line. To make a long story short, at 150 people into the line of getting tickets, I noticed the man walked past me and had tickets in his hand. He could have had someone wait in line for him, but I honestly think with the rain, winds, umbrellas going up, etc. he cut in line in front of people who didn't care. It's a shame because he took two tickets away from somebody who waited for hours.
Oops, my bad! You can also get off at 53rd street, I think that's the same station at 7th ave (thanks verynewyorkcurious!), and take the B to 81st.
Sorry, Jay!!

Thanks all for your help! I got tickets for tonight. Does anyone know where I can find a seating chart?

I don't know exactly what you mean by "looked around 50" but if he was definitely older, there is a senior line that is close to the theatre and those tickets are given out before the ones to the line. It's highly possible that he was looking for the senior line and accidentally got in the wrong place at first. Unless they've slacked off a lot this year, the line monitors check VERY strictly for cutting.
Jay, get off the E line at either 7th and 53rd for the B line or 8th and 50th for the C line.
semi-off topic but, if I got there at 7:30/8 would I get seats or even better, relatively good seats?
also, how many tickets can one person get? is it limited to one ticket per person?

2 per person.
And it's really random as to where the tickets are. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. They just have stacks of them and pull from the top.
Where you are on line has nothing to do with what tickets you get. It's random. You could be the last people to get tix and still end up in front.
With the popularity of Hair and the great NYT reviw...i wouldn't wait until too late to get in line. While I wouldn't get there as early as I did last time; I would want to be in line by 7am at the LATEST. The lines have been NUTS. I'd hate to have gotten in line, waited my turn and then found out they ran out of tix.
I was back in row Q, close to center, no problems seeing anything. REALLY well staged.
