Read a message saying Carrie is confirmed for the Neil Simon Theater. Is this true? If so, when? There were other messages and I wasn't sure if they were being sarcastic or not!! So is this actually transferring or did I misunderstand the sarcasm?????
Someone just posted on the main Carrie thread that the show is dead after the producer backed out, though i don't think it will take Carrie long to find more since producers have been begging the writers to do this for years.
All that took place recently was just a reading. A reading of the material to see where and how it stands as written. There were never any intentions of going into a full workshop of the material with intentions of bringing it back to the Broadway stage or any stage. Fans became a bit too enthusiastic and assumed this reading (and selected cast) were for a future revival of the musical. It was not.
Until the producers pulled out this week - there absolutely was a plan for Bway in 2011. The reading held so that the writers could work on the new material with a cast and it was meant to stimulate buzz for the intended future revival. It was a complete surprise when the producers backed out this week.
