I wouldn't consider "Mama Mia" a must-see unless you're really obsessed with ABBA.
"and i have a list of plays i MUST see in a certain order"
er, why? Is this an OCD thing, an ADD thing? Are you a Virgo?
You need to see Aida, Cabaret, Miss Saigon, Little Shop of Horrors and Assassins. O wait... Drats! Nevermind.
Sweeney Todd, Chicago, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and The Light in the Piazza should definitely be on the list. They should all be pretty high up, althought not in the order that I listed them.
Switch spelling bee with Tarzan, and don't bother seeing Mamma Mia...
If you really have been out of the theater scene for a while consider seeing wicked, so you can talk about how much you loved or hated it here on these boards.
well
ive seen wicked
and though it was OVERRATED big time
See these in no particular order
1) Avenue Q
2) Light in the Piazza
3) Sweeney Todd
4) Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
5) Spelling Bee

please, go see spelling bee. Celia Keenan-Bolger is so amazing, so is the rest of the cast! I'd consider it higher than Mama Mia and Lion king. avenue Q is great. So, SO, great. And yes, you should see Julia, but she's not eprky, character Julia. she's messed-up juilia. But it was till a good play, overall!
I would add Jersey Boys to the list. It was phenomenal. I'm in my 20s and did not grow up listening to the Four Seasons, but I loved the show.
I would definitely see Sweeney, Light in the Piazza, and Spelling Bee. And maybe Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
If you thought Wicked was overrated, you really shouldn't see Mamma Mia. There are plenty of other, MUCH better shows around.
Don't bother seeing Mamma Mia. It's definatly not worth the price. I'd see Spelling Bee (although this opinion is biast considering it's one of my two favorite shows)Maybe try seeing Light in the Piazza, Avenue Q, Drowsy Chaperone, Wicked(if you can get tickets) You've probobly seen The Producers, if not I'd see that as well.

I wouldn't really consider Mamma Mia! a must-see either. You should definitley see Spelling Bee before Lion King, becuase the original cast is mostly still in it, and all of them are amazing. I would also highly recommend Piazza, DRS, and Sweeney.

See "The Light In The Piazza" before it closes.
See "Drowsy Chaperone" before it's a HUGE hit and you can't get tickets. *knocks on wood*
How about just pick a bunch of shows ... and the first one that isn't sold out on the day you want to see a show ... go to that ... and then pick another one for another performance and do the same .... Continue the process until you've seen all the shows you want to see.
Oh ... and don't bother seeing Mama Mia. Wicked, Dirty Rotten Scoudrels and Avenue Q. I wouldn't see Chicago either ... unelss they actually have some amazing actors ... I saw it with Melanie Griffith and I think it sucked. I LOVE the show ... but when I saw it on Broadway ... yeah...
Drop Three Days of Rain. It's impossible to get tickets unless you want to pay an arm & a leg on eBay or scalpurs. Plus, Julia Roberts will probably do Broadway again.
I would do this order for these shows.
1 -- The 25th... Spelling Bee
2 -- The Light in the Piazza
3 -- Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
4 -- The Color Purple
5 -- Hairspray
6 -- Avenue Q
7 -- The Drowsy Chaperone
8 -- Jersey Boys
9 -- Sweeney Todd
Mamma Mia is something you can live without. You can catch The Lion King later, too. It's gonna be around forever.
If you stay for a week in New York City you can catch 8 to 9 shows. If you appreciate well written scores, well constructed books and artistic theatre, than you should see Sweeney Todd. If not, then it's probably not for you.
