Posted: 8/19/08 at 7:41pmI saw him last week. I thought he was fabulous. A well-sung, damn-near perfect performance.

Posted: 8/19/08 at 8:01pmHe seems like he would be perfect for the role. Oh and why near perfect?

Because things are hardly ever truly perfect?
I meant it as a compliment, not a detraction. I would go see him again in a heartbeat. It's great casting and he's very talented.

I thought he did an excellent job. His voice is beautiful and he really had a great grasp of the role.
Unfortunately, however, many of the other new cast members were TERRIBLE. the Thea and Georg were just plain awful. it was like watching a bad high-school production of SA...with the exception of Parrish.

Personally, I like the new Georg. But the above poster is TOTALLY right about the new Thea....it's like watching Moaning Myrtle from the Harry Potter Movies...which is sad because the actress is an absolutely SWEETHEART of a girl. (I think she's only 16.) And Morgan Karr (that took over Canonico's seat) is FABULOUS as the Ernst U/S. Other than that I didn't care for any of the new cast members.
I think Canonico and Socha are doing admirable jobs as Moritz and Wendla.
As far as Hunter, I haven't heard anything even remotely negative and quite a bit VERY positive.

Riabko.....again, nice guy...no businsess on B'way. Or heading up a tour. (Absolutely beautiful falsetto as well.)

well I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions... and so far I haven't heard anything bad about Hunter which is a plus =D. I am pretty obsessed with Weeds myself but I'm behind a season =/ catching up though
oh and one irrelevant question.. what do the things under our names mean like mine says Swing, I've seen people with Broadway Legend, Broadway Star what is it and how do you not be Swing.

A lot of the current cast is very underwhelming but Parrish is pretty good. It's a different take on Melchior but he's strong.
I just have qualms about how he will be able to hold up (vocally, physically, dramatically, etc) for eight shows a week as when I saw him (just a few days after he began performances) his voice was already starting to sound like it was beginning to get lost and he was really going full out in every respect...I just hope he'll be able to handle the pressures of eight shows a week.
But, based on his individual performance that I saw, he was good.

lol moaning myrtle! i love it!
i was also really disappointed with gerard's moritz. vocally it was beautiful but that acting was REALLY uninteresting. i just felt like he sorta missed the point. all of the awkwardness felt like an unnatural acting choice as opposed to a believable characteristic of this poor boy. i was like ok, im watching gerard canonico try to act like moritz. as opposed to gallagher who just inhabited every aspect of the character completely.
the reason i didn't like georg, was that i just thought he was acting like a clown. and sort of without reason. like he was picking random moments to try and illicit laughs from the audience, without any justification in terms of the character and the diegesis of show itself
