The only person who has died is Dollypop. I'm not sure what happened, but I just got breaking news from the BWW News Desk. There were a zillion grammatical, factual and spelling errors in the obit, but what can you do?

Jordan, I will never forgive you for that picture you posted of LaStreisand. As of now you are dead to me! Do you HEAR ME...DEAD!!!

Bryan, Sony is doing a pretty good job reissuing their catalog. If you kept up with their website (which they recently did a huge redesign for, including hiring Peter Filicia to blog) you'd know they have some reissues coming next month.

They recently put Threepenny Opera, Let it Ride, and Jimmy on CD for the first time. They are doing these reissues digitally and on disc (through arkivsong.com). Give them time. I can't even begin to understand the politics and paperwork behind these reissues. Go to arviksong.com to see what they've released and re-released (many long out-of-print CD's like Walking Happy, Darling of the Day, the Pearl Bailey Hello, Dolly!).

Again, they have some releases (titles have not been revealed) coming in July.

Decca seems to be a brick wall. Bruce Kimmel recently said in a thread that their various changes of ownership have made it tough for him to even do his 1,000 copy pressings.

Phyllis, it's always a shame when the young ones are called home to Jesus.

You assume that's where he's going?

"Jerry Herman's DOLLY! never sounded better once LaStreisand got a hold of her!"

Funny, because in my opinion, it never sounded worse!

Masterworks Broadway hopes to eventually have all of the back catalog available as downloads and CD on demand. In July they will be starting a new program introducing one title a month. Be patient and they will eventually all be there.

As discussed before, Decca has done almost everything. A few titles (DONNYBROOK in particular) are help up because the original contracts are missing and without them the management is reluctant to just go ahead and do a reissue. What titles does Decca/UMG have that are missing? Offhand I can think of DOONSBURY (originally MCA), the London cast of MAN OF LA MANCHA (Decca) as well as MAN WITH A LOAD OF MISCHIEF and DONNYBROOK (both Kapp.) What else are they missing?

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

I believe that is it FrontRow. Now I have Susan Johnson's lovely belt streaming through my brain singing "I Wouldn't Bet One Penny." What a great score it is! Would love to hear it as clean as bright as could be.
With Irma you gotta do something!

I'm sad I missed out on Ilya, Darling. I really wanted a copy of that one.

Off the top of me head, frc, Decca no-shows also include Sing Out, Sweet Land! and some off-Broadway titles; I believe they also own the rights to ABC titles like Your Arms Too Short To Box With God and Polydor titles like Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope.
