The thing I like about her journal is that it is so honest - you can tell she is writing her true thoughts & feelings and not holding back. That may be why some people criticize, but I think it is refreshing. It is as if your best friend were giving you a first-hand account - not leaving out any details.
I actually am sorry if I offended you. Truly. And I thank you for never telling me to 'shut up' or 'go away' as others have. I do find the way she writes to be unintentionally funny...the way my (very few) journals from my days at college make me cringe and laugh at myself. It's a hoot to read cause it reminds me of a lot of people I know...people I still know and we look back at out early days and chuckle over all the things we were back then...and all the things we weren't.
At any rate, tell Juliana to keep going. I do enjoy them...for my own personal reasons. I wish her no ill will and hope she has a long and varied career.

You didn't offend me, robbiej. I just felt it my duty to defend Juliana because she'd doing exactly what I asked her to do. And it's done exactly what I wanted it to do - her journal has reached a lot of young people who have the same dream that she had - I knew they would love this and they do. Older people are getting a kick out of it, too, which is nice, but I really wanted it for the kids who are still in junior high (ooh, they don't call it that anymore, do they? - it's Middle School or something) and high school and who are musical theater or theater nuts like she was in high school. And I knew that there would be some who would find it grating, that's what makes horse racing. But, there are nice ways to criticize or say something not necessarily positive, and there are bitchy ways. I always find the latter cheap and easy - it's much more fun to be humorous or get a point across without the bitchiness.
Thankfully, I seem to have lost all my jottings from that age, so I get to think that everything I wrote was brilliant, because it can't be proven otherwise! Ha, I say, and say again.
Like me. A musical theatre nut as a sophomore in H.S......in Ohio who has never been to NYC and knows he wants to live there for the rest of his life! And be a designer on Broadway! Her journal is so helpful. I have always wondered what it is like on tour.
